Beladriendir Nameroc Shimeran or "Bel".

Appearance

Tall with pale skin and dark hair, Bel usually travels with a hooded cloak or other head-covering to hide his ears, though he's discovered that simply growing a beard is enough for many Mainlanders to believe him.

Background

Born in Hirado, one of only 3 children born that year on the whole island, Bel was born into a wealthy family that controlled trade through the single port city on Sidhe-Praxen. Bel grew up hearing and reading of adventures and life at sea and the Mainland and left at the first chance.

Early Life

Top honors in early spear training

Beladriendir was always a poor student, preferring to only work on things that interested him, though he did excel at fencing.

Trial and Exile

Bel's family's connection to international trade afforded them some extra privileges but also brought a degree of suspicion and oversight as many of the Elven elite viewed any connection with the outside world as potentially infectious and dangerous for the remnants of Elven culture. Shortly after his 95th birthday he sprouted a few wispy black hairs on his chin. This led to a quick (by elven standards) coverup, trial, then coverup of the trial, which lasted 15 years and ultimately led to Beladriendir being legally declared dead in a freak magic accident, accepting sterilization, and being exiled to the mainland with only the non-magical possessions he could fit into a storage trunk. Once exiled Bel turned down any assistance and work offers by family connections and immediately set out on his own with no clear plans besides exploring and learning new things.

Current Life

No longer living a life of luxury

Shortly after being exiled to the mainland Bel began working as an assistant to an alchemist. This new method of arcane magic was different from anything that he had seen before as non-sorcerer arcane magic in the Elven Isle is exclusively by the druids and elders, following a strict schedule of memorization and testing. In his first few weeks Bel learned and used spells that would have been drilled over a course of decades in his previous education. Unfortunately Bel's lack of understanding of human nature led to the alchemist master taking him for most of his worldly possessions and leaving him alone in a burning shop with bandits shooting crossbow bolts through broken door ways. He has since made his way to Fresia after hearing intriguing rumors. He has ran through what little gold and supplies he had left and is nearly broke.

Views and thoughts

A haughty, self-righteous manipulator, and basic all around self-centered asshole. Growing up with a mithral spoon in his mouth Bel never felt especially close to family or schoolmates or elven society in general and once he realized it was a possibility he actively pushed for his exile.* Bel has very limited experience dealing with non-elves and most of these interactions have been poor. He complains about being on the verge of starving-to-death poverty while carrying weapons that cost several hundred gold (which he complains about being cheap, poorly made knock-offs). Bel thinks he knows everything - he does know a lot but still, he's a huge asshole about it. Bel is quick to point out his age when dealing with humans and halflings, though by elven norms he is practically still a child. While he has difficulty dealing with other people on a personal level Bel does have a strong sense of justice and the poverty, extreme inequality, and violence he's seen since coming to the mainland bother him greatly.

SPOILER Beladriendir Nameroc Shimeran's Character Sheet (Pathfinder) SPOILER

  • -This actually led to his trial being delayed for additional months of observation and testing as the appointed examiner believed that by asking for exile he must be mad and possibly presenting signs of magical or physical illness which would have taken the possibility of exile away.
