Description: The horse is all but unknown and unused in arid Petara. Instead, cavalry is drawn from the bedouin of central Petara, mounted archers who ride a shaggy breed of cool-weather camel into battle. Able to survive in the arid steppes, mountains, and badlands of inland Petara, the Camel is the perfect mount for the region. Against foes from the Mainland, the Camel Archer is no less fearsome, as camels are well known to have a smell that strikes terror into horses that skilled riders can use to their advantage.

Dromedary Fear: (Ex) When a horse first comes within 30 feet of a Camel in combat, it must make a saving throw vs. fear with a DC equal to 10 + Camel Archer Level + Ranks in Animal Handling. Horses that fail their save are afraid and flee in fear for 1d4+1 rounds. Once the fear is over, the horse will refuse to approach the Camel unless the rider makes an Animal Handling check with a DC equal to 15 + Camel Archer Level + Ranks in Animal Handling.


Saddleback: May take 10 on ride checks even when not normally able to do so with your mount.


Camel Affinity: You may take a 10 on Animal Handling checks with your mount even when normally not able to do so.


Improved Mounted Archery: The archer is equally at home firing mounted or dismounted. Penalties firing while mounted are reduced to 0 if you are making a double move and -2 while running.


Expert Forage: You may take a 10 on survival checks even when you are not normally able to.


Expert Mounted Archery: You are more at home mounted than on foot, and your martial abilities demonstrate this. You gain a +2 to hit and damage when firing a short or longbow while mounted.
