Joshua Pryce

Joshua Pryce, also known as the Pirate Prince and later as the first king of Celestia was born in the city of Ianian and quickly took to a life of fighting and roguery. As he matured, this upbringing facilitated the launch of his pirate career.

He practiced most of his piracy against Odessan ships on the Heretic Bay, with a few forays into the Western Ocean proper, although this was rare due to his lack of official Petaran support.

One notable story / legend during this time was of his encounter with an enchantress witch: Joshua and the witch

In his prime, his piracy evolved into freedom fighting. As he became more involved with the war for independence, he eventually became a prominent leader and eventually a figurehead, leading to his title, "The Pirate Prince".

Another interesting story regarding him was the origin of the magical weapon, the Ebony Reaver.

When the Celestians won their independence from Odessa, they crowned Joshua as the first King. He was living in Prycedown at that point, and it naturally became the new nation's capital.

Two of the Seven families that govern Ianian claim to be direct lineage from Joshua, and one of the families carries the name Pryce. Since he never married, the claims of both families are much disputed.
