KA-RA-VIN-"Is another popular game among the Athasian Gith. In this game Gith children break up into various teams. One team of 5 is the KA-RA-VIN="caravan" and the other children form teams of 1-3. The "caravan" team has to take their prize "usually a kidney or on a holiday a piece of fruit, across the "field of play" while avoiding attacks and traps set by the other teams..who are each also competing with each other. Luopolus noted how even at an early age Gith children learn a great deal about the methods and general operations of a caravan....even if slightly out of context. The Gith misinterpret the role of KA-RA-VIN as humans mocking them by parading their treasures infront of them, daring them to steal it. The Gith will oblige.

This preoccupation with raiding is a key part of the Gith way of life and permeates their culture.

"KaRaVin"- is also the name of a traditional Gith working song

"On an Inix in the badlands

There's a Dwarf with a watchful eye

Slaves and spices,iron and livestock

Too tempting not to try.

We will crawl in slowly

And sneak in out of sight.

Kill the guards and take their goods

And run off into the night.

Kara-Kara-Kara-Karavin

Under the moons bright light

Kara-Kara-Kara-Karavin

What's yours is mine tonight

Circle the wagons called the Captain

Only to learn that it's all for naught

Those who seek to trap our people

Are the ones often end up caught.

We will smash their defenses

And crush them with our might

Take their young to be our slaves

Until our stomachs grow tight.

Kara-Kara-Kara-Karavin

Under the sun's harsh light

Kara-Kara-Kara-Karavin

Leave no waterskins behind

Greedy humans take all the water

And all land with a patch of green.

When we take back from the real thieves

Ancestors smile when they hear their screams

We escape their armies

And all our days are free

Count our loot in ruins and caves

In places you cannot see.

Kara-Kara-Kara-Karavin

We'll stalk you endlessly

Kara-Kara-Kara-Karavin

It's all you've left for me.
