Mahina (MAH-hee-nah) is a human druid who is a descendant of the Moon Children and in their heir line of the Tamerlane duchy. Due to her mental illness, she believes she is a half-elf. She is 5'9", weighs approximately 170 lbs, and is 20 years old (though she claims she is ageless). Her birthday is recorded as 4-2 Heavenfall 932 FI. While physically attractive (and busty), she is socially inept to the highest degree: she has schizotypal personality disorder and Asperger syndrome. Due to these disabilities, she suffers from occasional hallucinations, bouts of anxiety and paranoia, clumsiness, and spoke only in rhyme until the members of her party (namely 
Book) threatened to use other means of making her stop. Despite her shortcomings, she has a great love for nature and believes every rock and tree and creature has a life, has a spirit, has a name. She also believes she can paint with all the colors of the wind. Her first animal companion was a small snake named Squirt and her current animal companion is a dire bat named Duncan.

History
Preconception: Lorelei's Story
Mahina is the daughter of Lorelei and Einar the Defender, former Reis of the Tamerlane duchy in southeastern Fresia.
Lorelei was the youngest of four children to two skilled rangers, both descendents of the exiled Moon Children. They moved from the Ulan to southern Fresia after their first child was born. Lorelei's mother's pregnancy was a difficult one, and from a very early age her parents thought her behavior as odd. As Lorelei came into her teens, she became a burden to her parents and they gave her as a gift to the head of the Tamerlane duchy, Einar, in exchange for protection and annexation of their homestead into the duchy.
Einar took Lorelei as a wife (primarily due to the failure of his first wife to produce an heir) and she bore him a son, Conall. This did not sit well with Einar's first wife, Gianna, who had miscarried numerous times and was never able to produce a child for Einar. Gianna also did not care for Lorelei because by adulthood, it was clear that Lorelei was "not right in the head" (disorganized schizophrenia) and while this did not bother Einar, Gianna did not care for having to carry more than her share of the duties as well as care for a child not her own (Conall). Gianna secretly arranged for another wife for Einar. Her plan backfired when all of the three groups she contacted sent women for Einar.
Gianna grew more and more stressed and frustrated as she had to manage a household with Einar's new lovers, Conall, and the mentally ill Lorelei. Gianna snapped when Lorelei was pregnant with Mahina as there were now seven children in Einar's household under the age of 6. Unwilling to raise yet another child of Lorelei's (as she had the year before given birth to another son, Kendrew), she dumped Lorelei off on a trade route to Arabelle while Einar was away on a hunting trip and hoped that Lorelei would be killed by bandits or other evils. Einar did send out a search party for Lorelei when he returned. They did not find her and went to war with a barbarian tribe whom they believed was responsible for Lorelei's disappearance. Gianna was inadvertently killed in the conflict when she pushed Conall into battle and the rival tribesman, appalled at what he perceived to be Gianna's cowardice, spared the boy and speared her instead.
Birth
A mere hour after Gianna left her, Lorelei was picked up by a group of gnomes who believed that she was a gifted Alexandrian priestess due to a vivid hallucination she was having at the time. They took her to East Arabelle and she gained reknown as the pregnant priestess who spoke in tongues and had amazing visions. The recent split of East Arabelle from Arabelle and the instability at the time allowed Lorelei to gain a cult-like following in this otherwise gnomish city. Five months after her arrival, Lorelei gave birth to a girl and gave her a name fitting as a descendant of the Moon Children (Mahina), the middle name of her father (Einar), and the last name of her father (Tamerlane). Unable to care for her child sufficiently, Mahina was essentially raised by the gnomish cultists who revered her mother as a visionary Alexandrian priestess. (Though Lorelei may have had some minor clerical ability, it was really her schizophrenic hallucinations that gave her reknown.)
Mahina's primary caretakers were a pair of gnomish brothers who would often take the girl along as they went fishing. Mahina loved these outings and developed a fondness for the outdoors. Dre, the older of the gnomish brothers, was also a veterinarian and Mahina would often help him care for the animals in his practice. When Mahina was 11, Dre took her along on a house call to check on a client's livestock. While Dr. Dre went about his business, Mahina amused herself by tossing rocks in a pond. Under one of these rocks she spied a beautiful baby albino milk snake. Mahina showed it to Dre and he encouraged her to keep it as a pet. Mahina named it Squirt and it has been her constant companion ever since.
Young Adulthood
Right before Mahina's 15th birthday, Lorelei disappeared. Mahina's caretakers, worried for the young girl's safety, apprenticed her to an elderly alchemist/druid that was a close friend of Dre's. Mahina and Squirt relocated to Zellsbach, a tiny logging village on the opposite end of the Pinch. Gabriele Donat, the aforementioned druid, taught Mahina as a druid and an alchemist/herbalist. Gabriele, fascinated by Mahina's occasional visions and propensity to talk in rhyme, brought in a divination cleric to teach Mahina fortune telling. The cleric, Simon Stonewall, fell in love with Mahina and stayed to assist Gabriele and Mahina with the running of the store. When Gabriele passed, she left the store to Simon (though Mahina believes it is hers as well).
After Gabriele's passing, Mahina struck up a friendship and later passionate relationship with a female halfling rogue, Allonia Zapadri. Simon seemed perfectly content to share Mahina with Allonia, though Allonia was not as keen with the arrangement. Mahina, taking after her biological father, saw absolutely nothing wrong with having multiple lovers simultaneously.
After both Allonia and Simon left to run various personal errands, Mahina had a dream where she was able to travel through time by inhabiting her body at different periods of time. With no one there to discourage her irrational thoughts, Mahina believed the dream was real and she had the ability, on occasion, to perform time travel in this fashion. Believing that if she had this ability then future selves of her would have this ability, she began keeping a diary (Mahina's Diary). She rationalized that future selves of her would also know about this diary and thus be able to use it/access it as needed.
Adventures
After having visions of Allonia Zapadri's untimely death, Mahina left Simon and the store to go search for her body in Arabelle.

Trivia
- Mahina's continued exposure to formaldehyde while working with Gabriele's preserved specimens has rendered her infertile, though she is not acutely aware of it.
- Squirt was extremely shy. He generally hid in Mahina's ample bosom. Eventually she was told by a druid that she had "outgrown" him and for the sake of him being able to live the rest of his days peacefully, she released him in a safe clearing.
- Her current animal companion, Duncan, found her one night during a quest. Every day she uses a spell to shrink him to a small size so he can sleep in her backpack.
- After acquiring a leather glove of barkskin, she now prefers to walk around entirely in the nude.
- Mahina has no real knowledge of her family and her memories of her mother are beginning to blur with her own mental wanderings.
- Mahina's name means "moon daughter". (OOC it is the name of the Hawaiian goddess of the moon.)
