Mattiverse Quest Notes 2014-08-16

11 Days Until the Auction

Negative-Energy-Locked Room

  • Edi uses channel to open the door
  • Sarcophagi in the room (five of them) and an obsidian altar with some stuff on it.
    • When Apt moves to search a sarcophagus, they all bust open to reveal skeletons (because of course they do)
    • They are defeated, the party checks out the phatlootz
      • Everburning candle (Apt takes this for light)
      • Potion of endure elements
      • six peridot gems shaped like dragons (10gp each) (in a secret compartment)
      • Whistle with writing on the side (Light Necromantic Magic) - Small dragon curled up like a snail. The whistle is transparent like glass, but feels like metal
      • Identified: When the whistle is blown in darkness or over an open grave, one corpse below will animate as per Animate Dead spell (5th level). Zombies serves the master forever. Max of 2 followers. 1/week - 3000gp
      • Mad Gokar defiles the altar, takes ten pieces of obsidian with him
  • Party holes up here for a bit
  • Edi's disease triggers. He doesn't suffer damage (makes his save), but feels like crap (needs one more consecutive save).

10 Days Until the Auction

Rat nests

  • Party heads into a corridor North
  • Some former cells, now rat nests
  • The party makes noise (like party members often do), and three rats come out to play
    • Mad Gokar squishes two, Russ spits one
    • Some coins and gems

Goblins!

  • Westward!
  • Party goes through a door which sets off alarm bells.
  • Mad Gokar enters, sees a room with lots of caltrops and Goblin sentries at one end of it (behind a shitty wall)
    • Sentries throw javelins at us
  • Russ manages a bomb, which disables one
  • The other manages to get away
  • Chase down the disabled one. Gokar keeps going, Russ follows, while Apt ties up the disabled Goblin
  • Another room, with a practice dummy, a wall, and three more Goblins
  • Gokar charges up and does what he does
  • Lots more Goblins come! More than ten.
  • Mad takes lots of damage in the assault
  • Edi manages to hit every single one behind the wall with a burning hands (11 in all)
  • Russ tosses a bomb, which unfortunately misses and splashes fewer goblins than it could have (four rather than nine)
  • A Goblin manages to get away. The characters do not chase.
  • Loots:
    • Gold, silver, gems
    • Fine silver flask of Dwarven make filled with really shitty (presumably Goblin) liquor
    • A key, opens door west
    • Russ grabs a couple of javelins to supplement his ranged capacity (they are Small-sized)
    • Lots of crappy shortswords and armor

Prisoners

  • We open the door to the west
  • It is a jail
    • Contains three Kobolds and a Halfling
  • We start talking to the Halfling
    • Name is Erky Timbers
    • He was trying to take a shortcut to catch up with his band
    • Captured, and has wasted away in this place for about a year
    • About a month or so ago, goblins caught three non-Servitors and they hung around in the stockade for a bit
    • A week or so later, Belek sent for them and he hasn't heard of them since
    • (they’re definitely who we're looking for--the two family members and the Dwarf with his penis/sword)
  • Over the course of this, the Kobolds are released and sit around talking to Meepo
  • Erky asks to join, the party doesn't argue. He arms himself from the dead Goblins
  • The Kobolds also arm themselves for their trip back to the Dragon Queen's kingdom
  • The party causes some trouble before retreating a bit to rest:
    • The wall in the throwing range room is demolished, leaving rough terrain in its place

Back, and then North

  • Another fountain!
  • Two trapdoors exist in this room, but they are jammed closed.
    • Russ springs one open and makes things more difficult for everyone
  • Mad Gokar opens a door to the West (quietly), while Apt looks at the fountain
    • In it is a big rat nest
    • He closes the door, but not quietly.
  • Apt finds another word on the fountain. Meepo dutifully reads it
    • The fountain gushes poison (the name, Naihune[sp?], means "Let there be death)
    • Only Russ and Erky are unaffected. 1 point of Con damage to everyone else.
  • They go into the rat room
  • Ambush!
    • Three regular rats, and GUTHASH THE MOMMA RAT
    • They are defeated. Mad Gokar becomes infected, the last of the PCs.
  • Loots:
    • More gp and sp and gems
  • The most recent dead thing is a human who was killed by small piercing and slashing weapons and not by the rats. His gear:
    • Five daggers (Russ realizes he didn't have a utility blade, and takes them all)
    • Studded leather armor
    • Shortbow
    • Sack (russ takes this to hold random shit)
    • Ruined waterskin
    • Bedroll
    • flint and steel
    • Three torches
    • Quiver with six arrows
    • Potion of cure light wounds (Mad Gokar takes it)
    • Pouch with gp
    • A fancy ring
      • It is engraved, "Karakas". Since this is the name of the Ranger that went with the missing party, and since his gear is ranger-like, this is probably Karakas

room

  • Russ tries the whistle on Guthash
    • It fails (circumstances not right), but still uses the weekly charge (so we have to wait a week to piss off Edi again)
  • Retreat back to the sarcophagus room
  • Everyone's disease triggers. Everyone succeeds, except Edi, who loses Dex and Con. Nobody heals Con damage due to the disease (requires two consecutive saves to fight off)
