Gub's goodbye

  • The morning after the owlbear attack, Gub announces that she is leaving the party to return to Monster Town
  • After some gifts and thoughtful exchanges, the party continues on without Gub.
  • The next day, Thurmin notes torn spider web on the wind, and goblin and spider tracks on the trail.
  • The trail shows signs of a struggle. Torekk notes that there is a densely webbed thicket ahead. The party proceeds carefully and is able to avoid the spiders.

Dawn Patrol

  • After an uneventful night, the party enters the Kred river valley.
  • That night at camp, Uhanimara hears the sound of a heavily armoured group approaching. She awakens the rest of the party and sends Veen out to scout.
  • A dwarven scouting patrol approaches. They are from Kred. After a brief discussion, the party agrees to return to Kred with the patrol. The leader of the patrol feels it is important they meet the General.
  • The party is disconcerted to hear about both Servitor uprisings at Kred, and (the humans at least) that the Servitors are treated as slaves.

Kred

  • The party arrives in Kred, and suggests that finding an inn be a priority. The patrol leader takes them to an inn, but will not leave until they are introduced to the General.
  • Thurmin suggests to the party that they be cautious with what information they share, as they situation is uncertain.
  • The party is taken into the fortress and introduced to General Kleptinax.
  • Kleptinax is interested in the story of the crossing of the Bloody Thirty-Nine, although few critical details are shared (the party has been hurt before).
  • Kleptinax shares with the party what he knows about the start of the plague, and the current situation.
  • Sensing that Kleptinax is a decent and honourable dwarf who needs to know the full picture, the party shares the truth about Draglet. Kleptinax is concerned, and invites the party back for a longer conversation.
  • While waiting for that conversation, Uhanimara finds an alchemist who allows her to rent her equipment to investigate the green goo. It displays both necromantic and transmutation magic.

Situation Report

  • The party decides to be completely honest with Kleptinax and shares what they know of Nevin, Byll, the plague, Monster Town, and Draglet.
  • Kleptinax relates that a previous adventuring party had been through. They had mentioned Nevin, who was trying to get to civilization with information or material that might help with the plague.
  • That same adventuring party - Gnob's Folly - had killedcaptured the Masked Gnome, who appeared to be in the employ of Diamon Pegg.
  • Diamon Pegg is apparently the leader of a Freisian mercenary company that Kleptinax believes to be involved with the Servitor uprisings and problems in Gildenhome.
  • However, Kleptinax has been unable to learn anything about any person by that name. Diamon Pegg was last encountered by Gnob's Folly, and has disappeared in the mountains without a trace.
  • Gnob's Folly entered Draglet shortly after the plague started, and was able to break up and retrieve the star iron. However, Diamon Pegg and his mercenaries were waiting outside the fortress. They allowed Gnob's Folly to leave in exchange for the star iron.
  • Kleptinax also shares that the Church has called a crusade against Odessa, after Odessa has razed Wydmoor. War appears to be breaking out all over, and many kingdoms are destabilized.
  • The party informs Kleptinax of the Flannery army that was entering the Bloody Thirty-Nine in the fall; this is news to the dwarves.
  • The party feels that there are too many connections between events - the Servitor uprisings, the plague, the mysterious Diamon Pegg and both the presence of the Masked Gnome and Byll in events; something is working to destabilize the various kingdoms and keep them occupied. The incursions from the Scar threaten to cut Kred off from the northern part of the kingdom.
  • Kleptinax suggests to the party that they might share what materials they have regarding a cure for the plague with the church, to aid in finding a solution. Kleptinax is also willing to see what aid he can provide the party whatever path they choose.

Decisions

  • The party decides to turn over the vial to Kleptinax.
  • The party debates what course of action to take next - seeking out Diamon Pegg and dealing with the incursions from the Scar are favored. The party feels that the instability in the Scar may lead to further clues about the apparent connections between the plague, the Servitors, and Diamon Pegg. The party decides to head to the Scar - it appears that Giants are being forced out of the mountains into the Scar, and in turn forcing out Servitors. But more information needs to be gathered.
  • Kleptinax provides the party with gifts, and suggests that they head to Grannet to connect with the quartermaster there (Hiran).
  • The party prepares to head out for Grannet, and then the Scar.

  • Before next session - shopping in Kred - 10,000 gp limit for equipment purchases. See also the MeFight discussion thread for what magic items are available and pricing.
  • May want to do a level up plan, as I think some of us are close to dinging.
