SPOILERS: Nora's Character Sheet

Nora is a young human girl with bright red hair and green eyes. She was raised an only child in a town called Marijan, a few days' journey from Gallenfeld. Her parents brought her up to wonder, remain mentally still, and ask questions about the world. Perhaps it was this meditative training by her parents that predisposed Nora to Evangelism, or maybe her parents noticed something special in her at an early age and groomed her accordingly. The decision to send her to the University of Fresia was made easily, together by Nora and her parents.

Nora has been studying at the University for the past few years under noted theologist Anero Melimion. Her studies passed without much drama until the summer of 950FI, when Anero spent the season lobbying hard for the removal of another professor named Waldthear Polmando.

Polmando was the author of controversial papers suggesting that all magical energy flows from an arcane source, that the difference between divine and arcane magic depends on the person "translating" the power. In contrast, Melimion strongly backed the conventional beliefs that divine magic is a holy power that is available to true believers via The Omnity. To Melimion and his students, Polmando's suggestions were nearly blasphemous. The heated debate even escalated into impromptu magical duels among the most headstrong students.

Eager to suppress the controversy, the University heartily encouraged Waldthear Polmando to suspend his teachings and undertake field research. As he prepared to leave, Polmando requested a student assistant to travel with him and his wife to help with research. Nora jumped at the chance to accompany him and learn a little of the other side of the tale, but kept her motive mostly to herself, feigning mild annoyance at being chosen for the job (instead of showing the eager curiosity she felt).

Nora has been developing her own, private ideas of magic origin and use, based on what she's observed at University. Her beliefs are similar but opposite to Polmando's: all magic comes from a divine source that dwells in all casters, whether they believe or not. She's been careful never to say this to anyone, not wanting to offend anyone. For now, she is satisfied absorbing knowledge to shape and grow her theory, but she feels it's important to keep it secret for now.
