QUESTING


Into the Vampire/Wererat Lair

Party enters a big stone area under the graveyard

AlToken.PNG Al notices wires that make it possible for us to get locked-in.

AlToken.PNG Al suggests burning down the curtain, but in the end LEToken.PNG LE uses a Mage Hand to open it.

Green curtain ahead of us! QuinalinToken.PNG Quinalin drinks potion of Protection from Evil.

Harpsichord and Throne seen behind the curtain!

Party hears a "click" when QuinalinToken.PNG Quinalin throws a holy water at the throne.

Party all moves in, and then everyone spots some water on the floor. Why is there water there?

GermainToken.PNG Germain inspects curtain and water is splashing underneath it. A row of pipes are going down the entire length of the tapestry 20-30 1"-thick pipes, water brackish is coming through Looks like drainage but in reverse

MoseToken.PNG Mose opens some doors and sees coal fires with another large tapestry on the far wall.

QuinalinToken.PNG Quinalin disabled all of the pipes over 5 rounds.

MoseToken.PNG Mose finds a room with big chests, 10 feet-sized chests with another large tapestry on the far wall.

LEToken.PNG LE follows MoseToken.PNG Mose into the room to look for invisible things. MoseToken.PNG Mose asks if they should open the chests, and she says no.

MoseToken.PNG Mose finds another room with a coffin and detects UNDEAD. He finds there's an undead in the coffin! He does not wait an extra round to determined undead's power level.

LEToken.PNG LE warns MoseToken.PNG Mose not to open the coffin!

MoseToken.PNG Mose does not open the coffin, tells everyone there is undead in the coffin. MoseToken.PNG Mose moves to the other side of the coffin to be prepared should the undead come out.

AlToken.PNG Al opens the coffin by knocking it over in bear form! We hear a huge crash as the stone slab comes down, trapping us.

A zombie falls out of the coffin, and is quickly dispatched by MoseToken.PNG Mose with an AoO

HUGE ELEMENTALS come out of nowhere. Greater  Water ElementalToken.JPG Water Elemental, Greater  Air ElementalToken.JPG Air Elemental, Greater  Fire ElementalToken.JPG Fire Elemental


Elemental Boss Battle!

GermainToken.PNG Germain breathes a little fire at the water elemental

 Air ElementalToken.JPG Air Elemental goes Tornado and slams GermainToken.PNG Germain for 38 points!

KimikaToken.PNG Kimika casts Dispel Magic and dispels the  Water ElementalToken.JPG Water Elemental!

LEToken.PNG LE casts a magic missile and hurts the  Fire ElementalToken.JPG Fire Elemental!

AlToken.PNG Al casts a flame strike

A new  Earth ElementalToken.JPG Earth Elemental comes out! It hits AlToken.PNG Al for a lot!

KimikaToken.PNG Kimika dispels the  Air ElementalToken.JPG Air Elemental!

LEToken.PNG LE uses Hold Monster wand on the earth elemental but it failed.

 Earth ElementalToken.JPG Earth Elemental pounds LEToken.PNG LE for 30, which KimikaToken.PNG Kimika heals completely on her next turn before retreating.

LEToken.PNG LE casts Magic Missile and hits the  Earth ElementalToken.JPG Earth Elemental

QuinalinToken.PNG Quinalin and (to a lesser degree) MoseToken.PNG Mose pound on the  Fire ElementalToken.JPG Fire Elemental until it dies. MoseToken.PNG Mose takes a good bit of damage while on the ground. MoseToken.PNG Mose is attacking from prone because the air elemental dropped him when it was dispelled

LEToken.PNG LE casts a nice fireball at the  Earth ElementalToken.JPG Earth Elemental!

AlToken.PNG Al casts an Ice Storm on the  Earth ElementalToken.JPG Earth Elemental and summons wolves for speed bumps.

QuinalinToken.PNG Quinalin and MoseToken.PNG Mose pound on  Earth ElementalToken.JPG Earth Elemental.  Earth ElementalToken.JPG Earth Elemental pounds back. Lots of healing.

LEToken.PNG LE casts a fireball and killed the  Earth ElementalToken.JPG Earth Elemental!

Party scans everywhere, and finds a bunch of Mimics! Kills all 4 of them.

MoseToken.PNG Mose wins a full party Intelligence check and is quite proud of himself. He realizes we have two good ways out.

Heretics of Wydmoor

  • Strange thing about Heresy: 700 years ago, almost no info about what they believed/thought/etc, almost as if there was an intentional cover-up
  • Hadriarch was able to keep position, no one was punished even though Had might have been in it
  • Rumors even 700 years later are very ugly: blood rituals, human sacrifice & at the heart of this heresy was a promise of eternal life on earth, possibly even the drinking of blood
  • Symbol: Eight-faceted crystal ruby
  • Very odd, every other heresy- the name of the heretic is recorded.


Wydmoor Refugees

  • Refugee conditions poor
  •  MaggrToken.jpg Maggr is gone wild and has run away!
  • Is currently harassing Odessans
  • Magical diseases have ended!
  • Natural diseases have been decimating them
  • 1/3rd of the population wiped out
  • Most halflings bolted
  • Ubrekt has created a barricade to prevent from traveling south to stop refugees (illegal to close border to halflings, so they got out)
  • GermainToken.PNG Germain smuggled 30 people into the city guard, 60% our allies, 40% thieves guilds allies

up to 70/30 with most recent huge infux of leadership score


About the Vampires

  • Everyone who we ever turned against, got turned into a vampire
  • Gil and Holm from the Torture Incident
  • Both wererats who gave you info for their lives
  •  MantatlusToken.JPG Mantatlus who you guys beat down
  • Some were vampirespawn
  • Gil and Holm, the first vampires you met, were boring ol' monster manual vampire spawn
  • MantatlusToken.JPG Mantatlus and the Boys" were full out vampires with char levels... strange.


About Melkior, the wizard with LEToken.PNG LE's Mark

  •  MelkiorToken.JPG Melkior was only in Wydmoor for a few months fled the city actually and was never heard from again.
  • Ran off after riling up hobgoblins (DC 30+ local of germains still pays off)


Talking With Edrell

GermainToken.PNG Germain can probably tell when  FennToken.JPG Fenn is lying  FennToken.JPG Fenn thought he was telling you the truth, so was lied to by the big boss about tomb being vampire hideout There may not be any factional splitin guild after all, maybe a vampire boss is just trying to screw with us by making lots of vampire chumps to throw up against you and to sell out to you at no cost

LEToken.PNG LE detected magic on on  FennToken.JPG Fenn back during discussion He is probably not magically mindblanked.... maybe.

 EggToken.jpg Egg tells us, when he realizes:

  • Bards have a spell level Modify Memory
  • But if we detect magic, we would have known that unless a Disguse Dewemer was used
  • Spells are available to solve this mystery
  • There are ways, very rare and suspect ways to modify memory without magic
  • There are rumors/legends/tales of individuals who are able to modify men's minds without magic!
  • Men known as Psions
  • Psions can screw with people's brains, no amount of detect magic would detect this
  • Psions appear in Canon - see also the Granger and Alexandra's Advancement
  • Bard's Modify Memory spell CANNOT undo a Modify Memory Power, and vice versa

 EdrellToken.JPG Edrell hasn't heard of anyone like that in the city, but it's the only reasoning that makes sense

No stories or indication that there are psionics.... (I seriously just rolled a 20 with an actual d20) except for the fact that gems and crystals are intimately tied to psionics. Gems like.... an 8 fascted ruby.... a BLOOD RED ruby. Or he has a magical dweomer spell to cover up a Bardic Modify Memory
