Last Game
Begin : Operation Passport Request
- First attempt is Quin wanting to inherit father credentials. After the guy does a bit of poking around, he says sorry, a son already claimed it. Nobody wrote down his name but it started with an "A."
- Quin rolls a good diplomacy. The guy agrees them, but it will require some Petarans in good standing to vouch for credentials, and it will take about a year. After some bribes, the guy says he can start up on a an "expedited" process - a week or two - for 700 gp total (including bear), but the vouches are a must get.
- The party tries to seek their old buddy Kathkallan to vouch for them!
- They decide to send a Sending through Kimika. The party goes to a bar to craft a 20 word message to Kathkallan to see if we can get him to vouch for us.
"Kathkallan, good tidings! Germain's investigator team in Udrell. Urgently need Peteran passport vouch. Can we teleport to you today?"
- His startling response is:
"Alexandria protect me! I can't believe it! Help! I was kidnapped sailing home and I'm being held for ransom but..."
- Party scrys on Kathkallan.
- Kathkallan, and several others, are chained up in the corner of what appears to be a cave, lit by the light of a fire.
This Game
- The party decides to rest for the day and have Al memorize Find the Path
Reconnaissance
32 Verdant 1401 FI
- The party decides to have Al cast Find the Path to get a general sense of where Kathkallan is, and determines that he is on an island in the South Heretic Sea.
- Al will fly to the area as an albatross ( http://www.sailnet.com/forums/seamanship-articles/19247-amazing-albatross.html ) and cast another Find the Path to get an exact location. Once he comes back, he will use the hat to teleport everyone except the bear to the island. +75xp to Al
- Al finds the cave that Kathkallan is being held in and turns into a rat and familiarizes himself very well with the island and goes in to explore the cave. Both entrances to the cave have an alarm trap set on them.
- {{Quinalin)) gets +50xp for rules lawyering because the alarm trap has a password on it and the Find The Path spell will let Al know that
- Al speaks the password and is able to continue through deeper into the cave and comes across a wooden bridge. Then he turns back and comes home.
- The password is “Open” in Peteran (+25xp to Quinalin)
- +25xp to Kimika for Word of Recall prep to get us back to our hotel room as an escape route
- +25xp to Kaleesarynn for the reminder that our escape will include the four captives
Into the Fray
1 Cleansing 1401 FI
- The party teleports inside the cave and prepares for battle. Kimika and Kaleesarynn use dimension door to move everyone directly to the area where the captives are being held. Surprise!
Battle Highlights
- Al softens the earth around the manacles to free the prisoners
- Ship’s navigator summons his familiar, a Dust Mephit
- Kaleesarynn dominates the Pirate Leader and makes him attack the older wizard
- Al drops the ceiling on the enemies and puts out the fire, which is followed by a light spell from Kimika
- Ship’s navigator raises the water by 14’
- Older wizard summons a shark
- Al lowers the water by 24’, leaving the shark stranded
- +25xp to Mose for figuring out that Kimika could be Al’s owl perch
- LE casts Touch of Idiocy on the older wizard and knocks his INT down by 1, WIS by 5, and CHA by 2
- The ship’s navigator summons a hellhound
- +25xp to LE for using the game’s spells mechanic correctly
- Al flies over as an owl to just 5’ above the ship’s wizard’s reach, turns into a shambling mound, and drops onto him
- Quinalin drops Bosun
- The ship’s navigator summons another hellhound
- Kimika casts blade barrier and shreds one of the two hellhounds attacking her
- Quinalin charges the ship’s navigator! And misses...
- Kaleesarynn makes the pirate leader attack the ship’s navigator’s familiar and the familiar runs away
- The party is attacked from across the water by lots of slingshot stones
- +75xp to Kimika for wall of stone to keep the slingshot stones away
- Mose confirms 3 crits plus a smite against the Quartermaster, and does 78 damage, killing the quartermaster
- The ship’s navigator falls to Quinalin’s feet and begs for mercy once the quartermaster dies
Combat aftermath
- Al casts Wall of Thorns at the north and Wall of Stone to the south entrance to ward off any other attacks while the party waits out the bubble that LE is trapped in
- Kaleesarynn commands the pirate leader to give up all of his weapons, armor, magical items, and valuables and then ties him up for when Dominate runs out
- Party loots all captives and corpses
