Guests of a Wizard

  • The party recuperates and plans what it can. Eyn makes himself and Mat available, but this turns out to be more of a gesture than anything else--they both manage to find ways to stay very busy in the face of the party's many questions.
    • As the day passes, he has short sessions with Thoven and Anise. They relate parts of their discussions [ed: and may freely write whatever they want said about it below]
  • The party has a last dinner in the demi-plane, resolving to leave in the morning. Eyn gives them a parting gift, likely a response to Anise's barbed complaint that the Azure Geese are constantly chiding Gnob's Folly for their poor spycraft, but not really giving them the tools to do anything about it. It is a marble sphere that can be invoked to create an area of nondetection for some amount of time
    • He also gives them a ring of sending, specifically tuned to him, so they can get in touch.
    • Kib, after long thought, gives him the mithreal plates from the Table of the Stars. He seems genuinely touched, and he is intensely interested in the artifact
  • They are plopped somewhere in the "morning", which turns out to be midday on the Material Plane.
  • They work first to find a temporary stronghold. It's pretty easy, given the number of abandoned buildings around.

Loose Ends in Nia-Agliare

  • While getting that together, Tana is sent off to go notify the Hadriarch. She does not return by evening, nor is she there in the morning.
  • They set off to the Cathedral themselves, keeping an eye out on the way for the missing sister.
  • When they arrive, the doors are open, but nobody is visible. The cathedral itself is unnaturally quiet--even the meager sounds of activity in the sparsely populated city fail to meet their ears.
  • Marwynn appears. She is dressed in the regalia of a Hadriarch.
    • Through her usual cryptic means, she notifies the party that she's Alexandria's representative here, now--the former Hadriarch has made room for her (hopefully meaning that he left). She further implies that Alexandria's will will bring together all the people of this city, and that it is a fertile field for sowing in Her name.
    • She also has no fear whatosever of the Bog Wraiths failing to fall in line.
    • The party's a bit unsettled, as usual, but they're more-or-less satisfied with the answer.
  • Next, they go looking for the Travelers
    • They have no trouble finding the paladins, who are happy to see them alive.
    • Gnob's Folly presents Grimm Gallant's gear. The Travelers are touched by the gesture, and sad they can offer nothing in return, save their thanks and a letter of introduction.
    • Now that they have reached closure, they will probably head back to Gildenhome. They've been out of contact for a while, and figure there is a lot they can do in their homeland.
  • Finally, Gnob's Folly seeks audience with the Bog Wraiths.
    • The fortress is guarded, and its people well-organized. Kib nonetheless has little trouble convincing the guard that he's a person worth an audience with Naprid.
    • The conversation is fairly short, but essentially consists of Gnob's Folly notifying the assembled that any rumors they might have heard about the rule of the Cartel being broken are true, and that they should act quickly to consolidate power before new faces spring up from the criminals' ranks. They don't directly say that it is Gnob's Folly's doing, but it's strongly implied.
    • The party further recommends that working closely with the new Hadriarch would be to their benefit, and that they should take the opportunity to meet her at the next convenience.
  • That done, the party heads back to their temporary housing.
  • Tana is back, relating that the Marwynn had insisted that she stay the night, and that they must have missed each other in transit.
    • A short discussion happens. The party agrees that some confirmation of Edrell's presented data must be found, and that the most convenient place that might have more to say would be the Temporal Authority, so that is their next destination.
    • Tana states that, since they are heading out, she noticed someone who might be helpful to have along, and who was clearly leaving this city.

A New Traveling Companion

  • They set off to find this person Tana speaks of, and happen upon a Gnome, packing up her shop.
  • The party introduces itself, and notes their intent to travel, and that it might be to their mutual interest to travel together.
    • She appraises them with a wizened eye, and asks how they'd handle a purse-snatching
    • The party is puzzled, but seems to answer in a way that pleases her, when they relate that they'd probably handle it themselves and not get the guard involved.
    • She gives her name as Mag, and without any further ado, finishes packing up and starts walking. The party is back to six, and in motion, to the seat of Alexandria's material presence!
