Team MeFight Twenty-Ninth Session

Ditching Draglet

• Group got settled into breaking the Star Iron into chunks.
• Guy shows up (Bartl), tells the group that he's come with a force under the Fresian Lord Diamon Pegg. He tells the group Anise is enjoying their hospitality (read: captive), and that they should kindly bugger off while the Fresians have the run of the place (he couches it in much nicer terms).
• Kib spends some effort trying to convince the guy the party is there, to buy some time. He also, with a bluff check, gets Thed (who has remained hidden this whole time) to pocket a piece of the meteorite.
• While Kib is doing that, Thed shoots the poor bastard. Sneak attack brings Bartl into negatives.
• Unbeknown to the party, Pegg sees this through augury, and immediately kills Anise.
• Kib rushes to get the get Bartl stabilized, yells at Thed to hide and stay hidden, and gets Bartl out with the other two
• A man (presumably Pegg, although the party has forgotten his voice by this time) encounters them. Some witty banter ensues.
• Pegg tires of the games, tells them he's killed Anise, and that they should get their things and bugger off.
• The party has little choice but to comply. Thed sees them doing that and sneaks out on his own.
• They meet some ways out. Kib tells Thed he can go with them as far as Kred, implying he's on his own from there.

Moving On

• Anise's body is where Pegg told them (the place with the "looters" with the ethereal chest). She is, indeed, dead. Also, obviously an elf.
• Thoven notices movement in her pocket. Kib, already on the ground, opens the pocket to reveal a swan figurine.
• It struggles for a bit, then rights itself and sits calmly on Anise's chest. The rest watch.
• It grows, then becomes full-sized, then lets out a righteous screech. Everyone except Kib (evidently too dumb to look away) shields their eyes, avoiding the dazzling, temporary blindness that he suffers.
• After this happens, Anise begins to breathe, impossibly. The figurine is blackened and broken from the ordeal.
• Thed gives her a heal, tearful reunion ensues.
• All her stuff is there, Mercer is not.
• The party marches on, with full speed, to Kred.

Orcish Interlude

• Orc tracks are found. Kib wants to ignore them, but a strange, elusive creature draws Anise's eye, and they follow to where the orcs are setting up camp.
• Anise opens up with an entangle. Kib shows himself and shouts for them to surrender. The orcs to not comply.
• Big orc boss scampers on top of a cart to avoid the entanglement and starts shooting people. He gets Tenpence with a critical, and manages to also crit Kib twice (lucky bastard).
• Gil and Kib engage, picking off a couple on the outskirts of the entanglement before wading in. Kib gets a nice trip, then runs in to engage Boss.
• Seeking to escape the entanglement, a group of the orcs manages to bunch together. This is their final mistake (judgment passed by the righteous fireball).
• Hooves crack a skull, Gil halves an Orc, Thed gets in a couple of good bolts, Thoven throws some magic missile action.
• Anise finishes the job with her keen arrow, getting a critical hit.
• Searching, the group finds the requisite monies, a very nice bow with arrows, and a strange casket with beautiful craftsmanship.
• It's opened to reveal human-looking remains. Anise come back after doing some tracking to make sure there were no other orcs, then notes that the remains are actually Sidhe.
• There's a scroll with them. It contains gibberish (non-magical), but Anise recognizes a symbol that belongs to an organization of Halflings that has some connection to the people stalking her.
• The remains are re-interred (off-camera), while everyone who isn't Anise gets to the usual work of burning corpses (which probably smelled delicious, considering how long the party's been living off that spoon). The beast that led her to them became her companion--a legendary Ghost Elk.

Notes

• Anise opted for loss of two Con when Abs gave her the choice
• Diamon Pegg has a fucked-up sense of fair play. Also, he is on Kib's permanent shit list (which he was before, but he REALLY is now)
• 11 orcs total for the party, six of which are all Thoven (with an assist by Anise from the entangle). (Two for Kib, one for Anise, one for Gil [this may need auditing. I know Kib trip-killed the one and Tenpence-killed the other, and Gil got the dude he sliced up.]
