The plucky squad was still in the forthouse. The group immediately proceeded to check doors systematically. Before entering the first, Kib sensed a mental intrusion, but could make no more out of the incident.

In the room Zealeus was discovered. He told the party that he was with a group, asking after slave rebellions in the area. After being treated with some initial hostility by the battleworn group, he was released and allowed to follow. Shortly after, a stable was found, containing only the Masked Gnome's pony. Kib began tacking the horse with Zealeus's help while the rest continued exploring. No sooner had the party split, than a seemingly innocent treasure chest turned out to be a mimic, grappling the unlucky Gilerl and steadily munching him. While Gil struggled to get free, with Thed and Thoven providing assistance as able, Kib and Zealeus rushed back. A massive blow from Kib, in addition to well-placed magic missiles and other strikes from the rest, made short work of the mimic, but not before Gilerl was badly injured.

Still missing Zealeus's comrades, each room was searched in succession, resulting in nothing. The last door to be opened contains two dogs and a gnawed corpse, identified as one of Zealeus's brethren. The dogs were mercilessly dispatched to be cut into rations, and the corpse retrieved for burial.

The sole area left to be explored at this point is the grate found in an earlier session. Adamantium locks are overcome with Thed's Roguish prowess, and into the darkness he ventured. After some fun with a rope ladder, the group (joining Thed) encountered the remains of another of Zeal's companions--this time, however, the remains are still mobile, hacking a pickaxe mindlessly into the wall. After turning the zombie, the party decided that enough is quite well enough, and headed back to the surface.

After a brief discussion, it was then decided that eight hours won't make any difference to Kred's fate, and so the party took some time to regain hitpoints and spells, bury a body, and cure some dogmeat. The narrative was thus left there, to be continued later.
