| text=This spell brings into being a lidded box of magical force, appearing in the caster's hands. It may be either translucent or invisible. The chest is weightless.

Solid walls of force form the chest's five sides and lid. The caster and other creatures cannot open the lid without the proper command word, chosen at the time of casting. Both objects and tiny or smaller creatures can fit in the box, although it is airtight. There is one hour's worth of air for a tiny creature, 2 diminutive, or 4 fine sized creatures.

Like a <i>wall of force</i> spell, a force chest is immune to all damage and resists dispel magic, but is vulnerable to disintegrate or disjunction spells, and can be destroyed by a sphere of annihilation or a rod of cancellation. The box is a spell effect, and cannot be bypassed with open lock or use magic device.
