Founded in 75 [[FI]] as a Peteran response to the success of Antioch's University in Hakan and the revived Academy in Ubrekt, the later of which was heavily theocratic, and developed a thriving study of Necromancy thanks to a small but reliable influx of Peteran exiles.

Since the Pre-Alexandrian Peterans disdained the use of Divine magic, this university specialized in fusing arcane and martial talent, and became particularly adept at producing wizard-killers and priestslayers. While it still performs this role, the University Ishkhani, founded about 50 years later, largely eclipsed University Jalaroi in magical scholarship.

Jalaroi today is the foremost center of knowledge about engineering, metalurgy, navigation, sailing, and the workings of the natural world.

Although the university did not develop gunpowder, it did develop the techniques for crafting bronze and steel strong enough to be used as bombards and longarms, instead of the one-use, crude wooden and copper fire-tubes the Peterans used for simple but effective defense for centuries against the Ubrekt Empire and its successors.
