*'''Ceaseless Observation''' - An empiricist's ability to notice the minutiae of almost everything that happens around him allows him to make shrewd and insightful calculations about people and even inanimate objects. At 2nd level, an empiricist uses his Intelligence modifier instead of the skill's typical ability for all Disable Device, Perception, Sense Motive, and Use Magic Device checks. He can also use his Intelligence modifier instead of Charisma on any Diplomacy checks made to gather information. This ability replaces poison lore and poison resistance.

stick to Investigator, maybe pickup Hunter 2-3 and Swashbuckler 3 or 5
stick to Investigator, or if more melee ability is needed take Swashbuckler to 3 for more deeds or 5 for more bonuses with rapier, maybe take Hunter to 3 for level 2 spells,

Alternate Builds

The Vanguard features are nice, but I'm still tempted to scrap Slayer levels and instead choose Feral Hunter for magic buffs and wand options and/or Insprired Blade for rapier-based killing. The latter options would also allow me just take 1 level for many of the benefits or 3 for a few more and focus instead on investigator progression.

Went for the swashbuckler option. -Bartley (talk) 04:06, 10 June 2016 (EDT)
