<p>After narrowly avoiding being branded as spies, Thed and Thoven learn that the mysterious masked marauder has been a thorn in this area's (and particularly, the slaver's) side. He relates that the well-organized manner in which the kobolds are attacking is probably solely due to the gnome's intervention, and offers a reward for his head. Kib and Gil run off to take care of weaponry needs, while Thed and Thoven probe the city's dark underbelly for secrets pertaining to the mission. Kib scores a Guisarme, while Thoven scores a contact. Night falls, and Kib turns in with a full belly while the other three meet with their mysterious information broker.
After narrowly avoiding being branded as spies, Thed and Thoven learn that the mysterious masked marauder has been a thorn in this area's (and particularly, the slaver's) side. He relates that the well-organized manner in which the kobolds are attacking is probably solely due to the gnome's intervention, and offers a reward for his head. The characters take this into consideration, then head back to the inn to get a few hours' shut-eye.
As the next day dawns, the four head to meet with the Thane. As he is involved with matters of his court, the party's audience is delegated to the Captain of the Guard, who tells the story of the gnome from a slightly different perspective. Noting that Kred's goals seem to be related to the party's mission, they decide to act on Kred's behalf, and receive information about a nest of servitors, as well as upgraded equipment (in the form of masterwork items, a wand of cure light wounds, and access to at-cost potions of cure light wounds and cure moderate wounds. In addition, they receive sorely needed healing. Refreshed and rearmed, the party prepares for an exciting new day.
