Questing
The group tries to decide their next move.
Book reveals that there are signs of an otyugh down below building 7C and reminds everyone about the owlbear or owlbears in the hole in the stables.
Book and
investigate the large sinkhole and Book determines that it is just a natural sinkhole. The group decides to collapse the stables on top of the small hole so that if the owlbears try to come up, they'll have to dig their way out. Then, the group will rest in 7B.
consults her circlet to see if this is a good plan.
's circlet glows and she has a vision of a herd of antelope running into a deep ravine and dying. She reveals this to the group.
hypothesizes that this may mean that everyone in the party will be fine. She then continues to hypothesize about the consequences of collapsing a building and how that might attract all of the owlbears at once. Merry says we should camp in the officer's quarters and set the dogs on watch. The group decided not to collapse the stables in.

Book to show that he can carry them both. The party camps out and they get 8 hours of rest in the middle of the day, undisturbed.
The party descends through the trap door, with
going first. Merry decides to leave his dog at the top of the trap door.
Merry descends down the trap door next and pulls out his sun rod. The rest of the group follows.
Book says that the "signs of otyugh" are stronger straight ahead. The party slowly creeps forward into the room until they encounter... an otyugh!
Otyugh Battle!
charges the otyugh and does 19 damage!
shoots it in the eye for 6 damage.
summons a medium viper!
cheers
and
on into battle.
cleaves the otyugh in half and it dies.
Exploring the Underground Caverns
The group searches the cells, but finds nothing more than scratches on the walls, so they continue on through the door to the West. There are two tunnels that have been dug through the stone walls to the North and West that look not too old and very well used. Book searches the room and finds a secret door! It leads into a secret torture room that hasn't been used in generations. Hey, this would be a great camping spot!
The group goes back to the East and takes the Eastern-most path, where they encounter an archway with a kneeling figure above it. Book and
Merry agree that it's religious, but otherwise have no idea what it is. The hallway beyond is dusty and the mortar between the bricks is crumbling.
The party continues on but
lags behind, as she is angry because she feels she was ignored during the religious discussion.
stays behind
as she is on rear duty for the group. They spot another carving on the wall.
attempts to convince
to move closer to the group, without much progress.
They see a small hole in rubble ahead. Merry sings an inspirational song while
Book &
look ahead. The hallway seems to go on for a bit before turning around a corner.
is all for moving rocks as he's an expert at it. After 10 minutes of hard work,
successfully moves the rocks out of the way. Merry compliments his physical prowess. This area looks pretty old.
They continue along until they reach a huge room with a statue of a crone and various warriors and the like worshiping it. There are coffins in the room as well as gear, skeletons, etc.
None of the party wants to go, with the exception of Merry, into the room because there are many macabre items within it. Merry argues that he has read stories about this room and really wants to go into it but the rest of the party does not.
recommends going to the other room and trying to find more information. Merry uses his skills to sketch and remember anything about this place.
specifically asks
about the room and if she knows of any significance of it.
The find some leather & hide armor that is basically unwearable as well as rusted chainmail, chipped and shattered blades, metal fragments, shards of wood, and 10 still-usable handaxe blades. There are also some otyugh tracks.
The party then goes back into the large, frightening room and discusses various options.
casts detect magic and peeks into the room with it.
The Scary Room of Scary Things
detects magic in the far corners of the room.
Merry starts his oratory to inspire courage in the party. He tells
that he hopes they live through this, then walks up and kneels in front of the statue.
After he knelt, suddenly the coffins jump up and reveal sacks of burial treasures below them. The coffins appear to be animated. Book notices that they coffins are covered in scratches, as if they had been attacked before or perhaps as if the coffins themselves had attacked other before.
readies flame in her hands as Merry scowls at the statue of the blind crone for disappointing him and his romantic sensibilities. The party continues the attack!
Merry casts grease underneath a coffin and
hits it.
misses with her flames.
cleaves one of the coffins. The party continues to attack the remaining animated coffin.
hits one of the coffins with a fireball. Suddenly, the party notices two figures rousing in the corner- skeletons! Merry improvises a weapon to fan the flames of the burning coffin.
slashes through a skeleton and kills it instantly! There were actually 6 skeletons down the south hallway.
staggers and fells the coffin. Merry throws alchemical fire at one of the coffins standing guard and hits.
Merry also casts grease on four of the remaining skeletons, causing two to fall.
heals
. Battle continues with people hitting and hurting bad things.
steps into the grease spot (even though he was told not to) and falls... The animated coffins are unhappily on fire.
Book is searching for treasure and finds 3 sacks of coins and some tattered red robes.
slingshots a stone at a skeleton and does 4 damage. Merry throws another flask of alchemical fire and hits a coffin.
Book searches the dead adventurer and finds a backpack.
kills off the last of the skeletons as

and Merry take on the remaining 2 coffins.
Book searches another coffin and finds more coin bags and some herbs.
runs up and does massive damage to one coffin while
finishes off the other one. The battle ends!
Merry searches a wizard skeleton and finds something interesting about his finger. It is carved into the shape of a key. The party goes searching for further keys and keyholes. The search turned up 4 total "skeleton keys" (har, har), a nice cache of money, a magical short sword, and a magical large steel shield. In the room to the South, 10 coffins were found, each with a wooden statuette. Each of the wizard skeletons also had a bag of herbs (yet to be identified). Tempest took the short sword and Ugly got the steel shield.
Book mentions that he caught a glimpse of rows of statues down the passage to the west that the mimics were guarding.
