How far does the analogue with medieval latin go? Is this tongue generally only known by relatively well-traveled (or well-read) people, or is it very likely to bump into common people who speak Ubrekti? -Slitherrr

I've always thought "common" or "basic" or whatever was sort of annoying, even though clearly necessary for game reasons. The idea of Medieval Latin fit contextually on a great number of levels. It's probably a tad more common than in the Medieval word, but far less common than "common" or "basic" or whatever. Perhaps the sort of like during the Renaissance: anyone with any degree of education or training would know it, but most the "common people" would only speak their regional language. So, usually Mayors and Guard Captains and whatever sorts that the work-a-day PC deals with have good reason to know common, while most of the faceless extras don't. YWMV outside of human lands, though in our party dwarven is mega common so it hardly matters. Gnomes actually mostly know Ubrekti, as they do not expect humans to be patient or bright enough to grok Gnomish. -gm
