First Families of Wydmoor

A collection of Gentry-Nobility that maintain powerful family dynasties in Wydmoor Free City. By and large, these were families of high standing who supported Odriss Rockheart during the Third Interregnum. Most are prominent guildsmen, plantation owners, religious officials, and manufacturers, and together they have essentially run the domestic affairs of Wydmoor Free City and the surrounds for the past seven centuries.

In addition, it is no accident that most are active or passive stakeholders in the Bank of Wydmoor, and many hold stake in the mining operations of Iros Forge. The seven Founding Families of Wydmoor tied their interests together in the first days of the rebellion by splitting evenly control of these institutions, and that tenuous cement holds to this day.

For some time, effective power has been wielded by the Wydsomme and Othelio familes, whose political marriage three generations ago (Calvis' Grandparents) coupled with a ruthless turnabout at the same time brought down an unstable coalition headed by the Khiozi, Riddermark, and Jedrol families. As the Wydsomme and Othelio families were at the time the bitterest of rivals, their alliance came as a surprise and thus they were able to parlay a feigned antagonism into a successful "divide and conquer" strategy.
