Appearance
Tall with pale skin and dark hair, Bel usually travels with a hooded cloak or other head-covering to hide his ears, though he's discovered that simply growing a beard is enough for many Mainlanders to believe him.
Background
Born in Hirado, one of only 3 children born that year on the whole island, Bel was born into a wealthy family that controlled trade through the single port city on Sidhe-Praxen. Bel grew up hearing and reading of adventures and life at sea and the Mainland and left at the first chance.
Early Life
Beladriendir was always a poor student, preferring to only work on things that interested him, though he did excel at mastering the mix of strength and dexterity required to effectively wield the utterly ridiculous deadly and elegant Elven Branched Spear.
Trial and Exile
Bel's family's connection to international trade afforded them some extra privileges but also brought a degree of suspicion and oversight as many of the Elven elite viewed any connection with the outside world as potentially infectious and dangerous for the remnants of Elven culture. Shortly after his 95th birthday he sprouted a few wispy black hairs on his chin. This led to a quick (by elven standards) coverup, trial, then coverup of the trial, which lasted 15 years and ultimately led to Beladriendir being legally declared dead in a freak magic accident, accepting sterilization, and being exiled to the mainland with only the non-magical possessions he could fit into a storage trunk.
Current Life
Shortly after being exiled to the mainland Bel began working as an assistant to an alchemist. This new method of arcane magic was different from anything that he had seen before as non-sorcerer arcane magic in the Elven Isle is exclusively taught in state-run magical schools following a strict schedule of memorization and testing. In his first few weeks Bel learned and used spells that would have been drilled over a course of decades in his previous education. Unfortunately Bel's lack of understanding of human nature led to the alchemist master taking him for most of his worldly possessions and leaving him alone in a burning shop with bandits shooting crossbow bolts through broken door ways. He has since made his way BLANK after hearing intriguing rumors. He has ran through what little gold and supplies he had left and is nearly broke.
Views and thoughts
A haughty, self-righteous manipulator, and basic all around self-centered asshole, Bel has a very limited experience dealing with non-elves. He complains about being on the verge of starving-to-death poverty while carrying a spear that cost several hundred gold (a spear which he complains about being a cheap poorly made knock-off and which isn't really worth hundred of gold pieces because almost no one but an elf would have the training to even know how to use it). Bel thinks he knows everything - he does know a lot but still, he's a huge asshole about it.
