Crusader Cleric

The Alexandrian Church is ancient, monolithic, omnipresent, and holds a near-monopoly on Divine power in the mainland. Over that period, members of the Church have learned a dazzling array of ways to harness Divine energy.

The Crusader Cleric is a specialist cleric class. A player may choose to advance as a cleric OR one type of specialist cleric, but not both. A specialist cleric class otherwise counts as a cleric for the purposes of prestige classes, feats, etc.

  • Has an aura and casting restrictions as a cleric
  • Gain spells from Cleric spell list, with identical spells per day.
  • Does not receive domains
  • May not spontaneously cast as inflict or cure
  • May not turn or rebuke undead

Class Features

Servitor Foe: A Crusader Cleric must choose one type of servitor. The crusader gains a +4 morale bonus to attack and damage against servitors of the chosen type. In addition to servitor, "undead" may be chosen as a foe.

Turn Foe: The Crusader Cleric may turn any servitor type he has declared as a foe. This is resolved like a normal turn undead, and the Crusader Cleric may do so 3+CHR MOD times per day. A Crusader Cleric with 5 or more ranks of Knowledge (Religion) gets +2 on turning checks.

Smite Nonbeliever: Starting at fifth level, once per day, a Crusader Cleric may attempt to smite a nonbeliever humanoid with one normal melee attack. He adds his Charisma bonus (if any) to his attack roll and deals 1 extra point of damage per Crusader Cleric level. If the cleric accidentally smites a member of the Alexandrian faith or a non-humanoid, the smite has no effect, but the ability is still used up for that day. The effects of Smite Nonbeliever do not stack with other smite abilities. At 10th level, and at every five levels thereafter, the Crusader Cleric may smite one additional time per day-- up to a maximum of four times per day at 20th level.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Crusader Clerics are proficient with all simple weapons. They are also proficient with all armor, and shields (except tower shields)

Bonus Feat: Bonus feats must be taken from the fighter bonus feat list, with the following exception. The Weapon Specialization family may not be chosen, but the Crusader Cleric may add Combat Casting instead.
