The time from the creation of the world until the entry of the Dark Fiend into the world is generally known as the "Primal Age". Primary knowledge of the period is virtually non-existant, as writing had not yet passed into the hands of of the goodly races, nor had urbanity or, in general, agriculture.
It is generally seen as a time of idyllic and peaceful time, when all of the elements of creation functioned in perfect balance and the Eight Makers watched passively from their celestial halls.
