Respect

The Gith social norm of showing proper and appropriate deference and contrition to another as directly proportionate to their ability to cause you harm or death, especially in matters where one has been wronged by the other and one or more parties involved seeks "equality".

It is by this means that Gith size each other up by the terms of Chivalry accept or deny that vengeance was validly applied and proportionate to the offense and preempt conflict from escalating as per the precepts of the "Law of Equality".

Thus a Gith who has wronged his brothers expects them to seek equality and if they do so, in the proper manner, he is expected to accept it without rancor or complaint. If he feels that the vengeance was unjust or that the reaction was more than "one above" the level of slight, then he in turn has the right to "get even".at one above the level of the slight.

If "Respect" is not shown or perceived as insincere by either party at any point in the series of slights then the assertion of "equality" escalates the conflict until either one accepts the cost of equality or it escalates into Debate or an informal challenge "murder".

Somewhat loosely related to the human concept of sportsmanship, except with much higher stakes.
