How long ago did it start, and how long ago did it end? -Slitherrr 11:38, 21 October 2009 (EDT)

Like a lot of the major points in ancient history, this is reasonably well explored here and there. During the rise of the Ubrekti empire, the Halfling and Gnome racial kingdoms were defeated totally. The halflings lost their home early on, around 2620 BI and forced into a diaspora, setting them on the road from being hobbit-creatures to being D&D-trope-halflings. Old Hakan (the original Gnomish homeland, presumably but not necessarily where Modern Hakan is today) was occupied by the Ubrekti around 2570 BI, though the Gnomes did not diaspora quite as easily as the halflings, a period known as the Gnomish Insurrection, a more-or-less continuous war somewhat similar in nature to European expansion in North America.
As it turns out, I can tell you when it started exactly - 2112 (*power chord*) BI. Its the earliest fixed and known date of all the world's history : The Peace of Three Nations. The Dwarves and the Elves (living in their original homeland, in what is now Alexia) signed a triparte accord with Ubrekti agreeing, basically, that if one attacked the other, the third would always join the defender. A host of various things were agreed to, but the two major things that came out of the agreement were the Gnomish Vassalage, whereby the Dwarves agreed to stop aiding the Gnomes and instead agreed to take them into their own kingdom, and the Concord of the Highways, which dictated the relationship between the centuries-stateless-and-generally-destitute halflings and the races of the world. The agreement is credited largely, sometimes totally, with the following almost seven hundred years of general peace and prosperity. -gm
Cool. So when did Gnomish Vassalage end? -Slitherrr 23:58, 21 October 2009 (EDT)
The Gnomish Restoration began in 19 BI under orders from Alexandria. There was much grumbling from the Hakni Humans who were displaced (though they were granted the territories of Ubrekt) but no one was about to argue with someone who smotes mountains and wotnot. The territory was carved out of Gildenhome and Fresia, which had essentially swallowed the human kingdom of Hakan amongst themselves between 164 and 149 BI after the royal line died out. -gm
Oops. Did not mean to wipe that out. Sorry. -gm
