Thanks for the wrapup cross-post. I'll get a narrative of the whole session down when I get a chance. -Slitherrr

My pleasure. The end of an adventure/campaign/chapter/major quest is the optimal time for a little box text and fast forward. I find my long history of playing CRPGs has left an indelible impression on me in terms of campaign structure. I left some time in there (Probably 4-6 days?) for people to do any downtime, or even go on a dungeon crawl if they're particularly ambitious or complete-ist. -gm

First part, now to do some real work before adding more. -Slitherrr

Part two! The battle, and with it, the exciting conclusion, later. -Slitherrr
Woooo! I demand at least one kitten be eaten or worn over the course of the story ;) --Msallen 09:01, 22 December 2009 (EST)
Kitten consumed. -Slitherrr
Woo WOOOOO! --Msallen 09:47, 22 December 2009 (EST)
Part two and a half. It's late, I'll finish it up tomorrow. -Slitherrr
Har, by the way. Effective ECL Level! -Slitherrr
No shit. I realized just after I shoulda said that. --Msallen 10:33, 23 December 2009 (EST)

FWIW - the only reason there was a single survivor is that he was actually 5 feet outside the fireball radius. If he'd gone down one square over. . . .

Ha, yeah. It'll teach me to ask if the NPCs get the same buffs the PCs do, next time. Poor sots. -Slitherrr
Hm. Mage Armor castings/potions would not be so far out of the realm of possibility, at 25 each for a scroll or 50 each for a potion. The resist elements you had on yourselves was a 3rd level casting. Potion of Shield (As 3rd level caster) @ 300 gp each. I'm interested in where one would go about finding 4,200 gold pieces worth of shield scrolls, to go along with the 14 additional castings of Mage Armor and 14 additional castings of a third level abjuration spell, all given 90 minutes of lead time. Major abjuration on the mission specialists is one thing, but trying to cover every element of even a skirmish-sized force is seriously prohibitive.
Next time just don't clump them all together. Lesson learned. :) -gm
Haha, right, I didn't think about the cost, but only because I'm not used to thinking about it. I totally never meant to imply that you SHOULD have told me, just simply stating that I'll keep more of them alive next time. -Slitherrr
Yeah, sadly, all the really good magics are kind of cost prohibitive for The Help in most cases, excepting some persistant AoE spells. -gm

Given the lack of response in the debriefing thread, I think it might be best to assume that they'll generally go along with the expenditures. Even if they don't go with everything, we can work out the details here and save a lot of time Sunday.

Here's the summary. Except for the goblin and the warhorse, all the prices are SRD base.

7397 gp, 2 sp, 9 cp to work with.

Silk rope -10gp Torches - 1cp apiece, we can buy them by the gross Masterwork thieves' toolkit (thed) -100gp Healer's kit x2 (zealeus and kib) -100gp Grappling hook -1gp Climber's kit -80gp

Pony, pony, pony, warhorse (substitute warpony for anyone with ranks in ride) -30gp per pony, 100gp per warpony, 300gp for a light warhorse strong enough to carry Kib with his equipment. Assuming nobody but Kib actually has ranks in ride, it's 390 gp total (including the already-obtained Grimhoof).

Goblin slave -70gp.

masterwork buckler for thed -165gp

masterwork morningstar -158gp OR masterwork heavy mace -162gp

Masterwork heavy steel shield- 170gp

Masterwork full plate -1650 gp OR Masterwork banded mail -500 gp

With armor, there's a lot of stuff to work out. Here's the base cost

Mithril breastplate - 4200gp (Small size only, since Gil's el tank)

Adamantine chain shirt - 5100 gp (Small size only)

Masterwork breastplate - 350 go (Since Prof is definitely losing evasion, this is a good enough piece for Kib, even though he'd much prefer mithril)

So, first things first, is to get the general eqp out of the way. None of it is really obscure (I suppose masterwork thieves' tools may or may not be tough to get), so I'll lump it together:

.1 gp - 10 torches 10 gp - silk rope 100gp - Healer's kit x2 1 gp - Grapnel 80 gp - Climber's kit 70 gp - Goblin 390 gp - pony, pony, pony, Fresian warhorse (I'll sub a warpony for any character with ride ranks, if you could check for me) 10 gp - Whatever amount of slow-to-perish food can be bought for 10gp

This is 661.1 gp. I'll tithe 8.9 gp to the church to make it an even 670 base (before any discount, which I assume you'll determine)

The heavy mace and the morning star average out to 160gp, so for simplicity, it's probably ok to use that as the base, then have Zeal (or whoever plays Zeal) make that choice in-game.

For Zeal's outfit:

1650 gp - small-size masterwork full plate 170 gp - small-size masterwork heavy steel shield 160 gp - small-size masterwork simple one-handed smashy smashy weapon

This is 1980 base.

Thed:

165gp - masterwork small-size buckler

Kib:

350gp - medium-size masterwork breastplate

Gil is then the wild card, since we can't afford anything better for Kib. The unavailability of mithril dictates that the best choice is probably the adamantine chain shirt, which is 5100 base. If we get enough of a discount on the above, and the extra cost with limited availability of the small-size mithril breastplate is low enough, then that is the better option. Base cost for that is 4100, but that of course has X amount added to it.

Your move!

-Slitherrr

Heh. Mine? What do *I* have to do! This needs to be taken up with the party. ;) I'll say that mithril, where it can be found, will probably have something like a (1d4+2) x 5% markup. If you're picking up that minor stuff in kred, you can probably get it at book rates. A breastplate, even MW, kib could probably pick up easily, but anything larger would have to take time to be specially crafted. I don't see anything particularly controversial, but I'd see if gil even WANTS an adamantine shirt before you spend most of your cash on on - he get's DR in a couple levels, anyway, though I think the plan was to hand me down in that case anyway. -gm

I definitely tried talking to the players about this, but you've seen where that went in the thread. I figure if we get all the numbers and make the discount/markup rolls in advance, it'll save us a boatload of time in what will probably already be a session full of setup for the next thing. I plan on contacting Dev whenever I get a chance, but in any case, it doesn't hurt to have the numbers for each possibility worked out, just to keep things rolling.-Slitherrr
So, I rolled a 5 for the markup, giving 25%. That's 5250 for mithril breastplate, 1375 for chain shirt (before haggling). Should I separate things into stacks and make Diplo rolls, or do you want to determine a discount or lack thereof in advance, or what? -Slitherrr

Talked to Gil, he's digging mithril (to be all LOTR-y, his words). The total then comes to

670 + 1650 + 160 + 170 + 165 + 350 + 5250 = 8415. We can afford it if I haggle a 13.76% discount (on average). -Slitherrr

Hmm. That's actually seems like a pretty steep reduction. Though, I suppose the need for discounts in some areas (mithril) might be greater than others (steel shield). -gm
Right. I've got a nice high Diplomacy to work with, but it'll probably be tight if it can be made at all. -Slitherrr
