Book believes his rock may have ran into a gelatinous cube.
Questing
Gelatinous Cube battle!
The stone moves around slowly as if it is stuck in something sticky.
Merry takes out his extendable pole and extends it to its full extent.
The cube advances on Merry, Book and Ugly. Merry and Book jump out of the way but Ugly is trapped!
The party clamors to free Ugly from the sickening cube.
Another cube appears and engulfs Tempest!
Barrel the Dog attacks and hits the cube with Ugly in it.
Nora whacks it with her morning star
Lock the Dog wants to attack but doesn’t see anything.
The Ugly ooze attacks all of the dogs and Book. We are sadder and sadder.
The Ugly ooze squishes forward, taking Ugly with it.
Stock the Dog bites the Ugly ooze.
Merry hits the Ugly ooze with his crossbow
Mahina summons a burning ball of death on top of the Tempest ooze. The ooze bubbles away ever so slightly.
Nora thwacks the Tempest ooze with her morning star. The ooze is unhappy.
One of the dogs is engulfed along with Ugly and Book. It’s a big happy family in the cube!
The burning sphere of death keeps boiling away the Tempest cube, while Mahina starts summoning something dangerous.
Nora gets engulfed by the Tempest ooze, but deftly avoids paralyzation for a little while.
Flaming sphere finishes off the Tempest ooze, then demurely disappears.
Mahina's fire elemental appeared and started attacking the ooze.
Nora finishes off the Ugly ooze! Victory at last!
Roaming the Cave
Ugly wears the vest he just found and shrinks down to small size
Ugly also finds 15 gold, 13 silver, 3 copper.
Mahina and Nora work to save Stock.
Mahina heals Book and the party discusses returning to the torture chamber to rest.
After a fairly apathetic discussion, the group decides to hang out in the cave for 24 hours.
Book places his rock on watch.
The party re-emerges back to the mushroom forest, refreshed
After discussing the violet mushroom, Book sends his rock out to scout.
Book notes that we cannot sneak past the mushroom but there are no other doors.
The party discusses where to go next.
After searching the cavern thoroughly, the party decides on a different course of action and climbs back up to the surface.
Back To the Upper Levels
The party heads back to the torture room.
A hidden entrance is found! As the door opens, extremely stale air rushes out with a gasp.
Merry asks Book to send his stone down the now-revealed staircase.
The rest of the party follows and comes to a doorway with a lever in front of it, a forcefield, and a lever behind the forcefield.
The party attempts to decide how to proceed.
Nora searches thoroughly and cannot find anything else.
Tempest goes ahead and flips the lever down.
The first forcefield in front of the party drops.
Nora believes that the second switch will toggle the other forcefield up and the other down.
The party waits and nothing happens after a minute.
Mahina looks eager to go through.
The party discusses the course of action more but Mahina barges forward, stomping her feet and chomping at the bit to go.
Mahina, Merry & the dogs go forward. She flips the switch eagerly.
Nora feels a warmth on her head.
When Merry hears that Nora mentions her circlet, he lunges backward and grabs Mahina with him. Mahina stomps her feet in protest but allows herself to be pulled backward.
Nora has a vision about dragons burning villages, doesn’t think it’s pertinent.
Merry, Mahina & dogs go back to the forcefields & once again Mahina pulls the lever.
Acid starts spraying down from above Merry & Mahina. The dogs take acid damage but Merry & Mahina deftly avoid it.
Attack of the Acid Bath
Ugly shoves Nora out of the way and flips the switch down. The forcefield drops between the first area and second area. Acid starts to flow into the rest of the room where the party is. They all attempt to dodge it.
Tempest is not able to avoid it and takes acid damage.
Nora shouts to Mahina to pull the lever up at the same time she flips hers.
Stock runs out into the main room. Merry follows with the other two dogs.
Tempest and Book make towards the staircase.
Mahina spots a nodule and reaches up to grab it, scalding herself with acid unavoidably as she does so.
The second forcefield goes down when Mahina grabs the nodule but the acid does not stop.
Stock goes down again as the party has to continue dodging the acid, not all of whom are able to avoid it this time.
Ugly pulls down the far lever, acid keeps going. Tempest believes the third lever is to pull down a forcefield.
Merry yells for Tempest to grab Stock and go up the stairs.
Tempest goes to grab the unconscious dog and takes damage as she rescues him to bring him to safety.
Lock runs to the stairwell while Stock fails to stabalize. Merry joins them on the stairs.
Mahina goes near Ugly and casts Resist Energy on herself.
Nora moves to join Ugly and Mahina.
Ugly leaves the two healers alone and runs to join everyone else on the staircase.
Mahina casts light on her hand and inches down the hallway, trying to spot anything.
Nora joins Mahina down the hallway.
Tempest asks if we have everyone here. Ugly informs her that the healers are back downstairs. Tempest sees them going down the tunnel and yells for them to come back.
Stock stabilizes.
Mahina & Nora Go Exploring
Nora & Mahina continue to inch along the corridor. Nora runs up the incline to get out of the acid.
Ugly informs the rest of the group that it has gone dark around where the healers were.
Nora & Mahina move down the corridor into a larger, open area where there is a forcefield. Nora warns Mahina about the forcefield.
Mahina moves into the larger room (28) 20’ by 70’ the east wall has a forcefield. The southern end has 4 holes in the floor, spaced 10 feet apart. She tells Nora about the room.
Nora moves into the room. She casts CLW on Mahina.
Tempest takes her torch and charges through the acid room toward Nora and Mahina
Merry pulls out his sunrod and lights it.
Mahina examines the holes- they are keyholes (that are pretty far apart from each other). Nora & Mahina discuss.
Tempest splashes down the acid corridor to the healers and yells, asking if they are okay.
Nora goes towards her and notices that Tempest looks pretty badly damaged by the acid.
Mahina goes over to the other ladies and casts CLW on Tempest
The girls discuss & Mahina tells Tempest about having resist energy on herself. After agreeing on what she will do, Mahina goes back up to the guys taking cover in the stairwell. She runs back up the acid corridor.
Mahina reaches the stairwell and informs the guys of the situation. As Merry begins to speak, the acid stops.
Mahina carries all the gnome-sized boys across the acid pool.
Merry declines healing and Nora heals Tempest with another CLW
The Keys & the Keyholes
Merry passes out the keys to Tempest, Nora, Mahina, and himself.
Once turned, the party hears a click and forcefield drops instantly.
The party leaves the keys in the keyholes. Merry checks to see if the acid has gone down at all. Nora mentions about taking back out the keys. The party discusses it.
Book is extremely ambivalent. The party decides to move on without the keys for now but then it occurs to them that if someone removes the keys, they could be trapped. Tempest tries to weigh the odds.
The party decides to pull the keys out simultaneously and the forcefield goes back up, so they put them back in simultaneously to take the forcefield back down.
The party now faces a choice- door number one or door number two.
