Hegemony War

Also known as the Shadow Interregnum, it was a church civil war initiated by the creation of the Hegemony by Martyel Gaddrick-Thane. Although a religious succession war, it is not considered a true interregnum on account of there being a reigning - if widely feared and despised - Arch-Warden for its duration.

This was ended calamitously for Fresia. In addition to the decades of rebuilding and unrest that followed, the execution of the Emperor at the hands of the church led to a far weakened emperor and bolder, more autonomous regional Princes.
