Random mechanics ideas:

  • Swarming! Individually, not very threatening, but able to accumulate facets of power into a fearsome whole when they congregate. Individual crows have their own stats, but the larger the group, the less any of those individuals really is discernible, and the more powerful and monolithic its decision-making becomes, until the murder scatters after having fulfilled its particular purpose for gathering. Spell-knowledge and -power both come to mind as things that could scale up and down with group size. Maybe forming these groups takes turns, so you get a situation like in, "The Birds", where people are wandering about just kind of strangely feeling weird until they suddenly notice that, "Hey, there are a fuckload of birds all over the place, should we be worried about that?" -slitherrr (talk)
  • High synergy with appraise, language- and knowledge-based things, physical and mental manipulation, etc. Terrible with anything having to do with brute force (no barbarians), or things focused on solitary introspection (cavaliers, rangers, monks, inquisitors, paladins). Great wizards (of course), but also rogues and alchemists, with the occasional sorcerer thrown in as experiments with magic start to produce odd bloodlines. Probably no druids, since that implies affiliation with the broader druidic organization. Divine-types are all focused on the Order, which recognizes Alexandria's divinity, but obviously has no place within the mortal aspects of the Church organization proper (would have to figure out a mechanism of investiture--maybe not even possible, or maybe it was revealed through an Oracle, or some lore-based mechanic).
