For the sake of realism?!? Who the hell thought that the feat system was realistic? --Msallen

I didn't write it, I just copied it here. This is from a WoTC publication, so... -Slitherrr
I was directing my criticism at Sword and Fist, copyright Wizards of the Coast inc., who for some reason believes that in the real world we can only change our archery expertise when we gain a bonus to our BaB (which I guess helps me hit the snack machine better?) --Msallen
To be fair, it does make sense, in that you're basically using the time you would have spent on that level maintaining your edge on the one bow to gain an edge on another bow, which means you're only working on the old bow as much as all the others, causing it to go back into the pack (since we'd assume that we'd have to keep working extra hard to maintain a specialty, and not that we could just work hard for one level and then move on to something else). "Consistency" might be a better word than "realism", though. -Slitherrr
Sure, its a necessary stipulation. "Consistency", and also "balance", make this sort of rule necessary. I was really just complaining about "realism". BaB and feats are absolutely artificial. Any effort to honor them will fail to be "realistic" by definition. --Msallen
