Arekson

Arekson was the "first among equals" for the five capos of the Bandit Kingdom, known as the Cartel. It was he that arranged the neutral grounds and issued guarantees for meetings. He was the most recent on the scene and saw the most rapid ascent in power. Of all of the Cartel, he was the best able to maintain secrecy about his whereabouts and identity.

He is known to deal heavily in Necromancy: There is an open rumor that he commonly uses undead to do his wetwork, and he's fond of sending messages via the animated speaking heads of someone's associates (Levan Absold received two such messages in his career). His current location is unknown, but Leven and Gnob's Folly hoped a drastic action would draw him out of hiding. Although his area of control is technically the smallest, he historically had a finger in all the other capo's pies and the most firm control of whatever constituted the "illicit underground" in a city of bandits. Now that the other capos have perished, Gnob's Folly and the Azure Geese believe he will move to neutralize whatever has taken out his pawns before consolidating control over the region.

Arekson is believed to be an alias for Mantatlus, who supposedly came to Nia-Agliare following the destruction of Wydmoor. Gnob's Folly and the Azure Geese currently believe that his sire is also active in Nia-Agliare, as Arekson himself does not possess the power to turn a righteous Traveler from his path.
