Elevated to the Arch-Wardency after the death of the Gnome Rednit Turnl. Why Turnl elevated the Fresian is one of the bigger mysteries in Church history, as Hammerhand was not one of Turnl's confidants, although the two did know each other.

On his death, Martyel Gaddrick-Thane - the reigning Fresian Emperor - was raised to the position, leading to the declaration of the Hegemony and the advent of the Hegemony War.
