Mefighter beta team second session notes

Summary

• The group reconvened the next day at noon and left through the east gate.
• Rather than push the trip to be done in one day and one night, the decision was made to take the trip in two stages.
• The Flannari army is encamped on the far side of the mountains, so the road was busy with traders and teamsters. Passed by the Valley of Wrath on the way.
• A traders camp was found at the top of the pass.  Frimble used the opportunity to make some trades,  Thurmin Vustor to find out more about what lay ahead.
• The next day was the beginning of the descent to the Bloody Thirty-Nine. The view was of hundreds of miles of woodland, denser forest to the east.
• Around the town at the base of the pass were hundreds of multi-coloured tents and the campfires of the Flannari army.
• During the descent,  Frimble became convinced that she could hear the call of a Giant Night Owl. Byll also said he could hear it, and left to investigate.
• Despite deep misgivings from the rest of the group about the existence of any such beast as a Giant Night Owl,  Frimble insisted that hearing one was good luck.
• Several in the group figured that Byll was using the ruse of a "Giant Night Owl" to meet with a confederate.
• As the group approached the town, Byll reappeared, stating that there was an Owlbear and that it needed to be dealt with.
• The group approached an abandoned farmhouse, from which the calls of the Owlbear could be heard. A fire was also burning in the farmhouse.
• Template:Brunner, under the effects of an enlargement spell from  Uhanimara was charged by the Owlbear. Template:Brunner scored a critical hit with his axe.
• Gravely wounded, the Owlbear mauled Template:Drem almost to the point of death. The Owlbear was then killed.
• Template:Gallus was rescued from the farmhouse, where he had been hiding on the second floor from the Owlbear.
• An investigation of the area around the farmhouse turned up two bodies, one of which had fragments of Owlbear egg.
• The next morning, the group went to town, in the hopes of finding a bed, bath, and meal for Template:Gallus. Unable to find a bed, they pressed on into the Bloody Thirty-Nine.
• Villagers in the outlying areas are in hiding or have abandoned their homes.
• The group made camp beside the road at the edge of a forest.
• In the middle of the night, javelins were launched at the group from out of the forest.
