Last Game

  • Hot air balloon ride!
  • Chickening out on fighting a big bad guy (all but Al and Quin, who wanted to fight the good fight).
  • Got to the mainland, and we are still not home. If we go along the southern coast, we will go through the Centaur Steppes, where there are cannibalistic centaurs. Past that somewhere is the City on a Monster. It’s a small city of 200-300 people (I think) that is actually built on the back of a gigantic roving monster called God Mountain. If we go north, we’ll get to vast rice fields and beyond that, a large city. If we go into the mountains, there are mad men.
  • The party decides to head north for warmer climes and the large city surrounded by the rice patties.

Journey North

  • The party discusses what to do with the hot air balloon and the ethereal chest.
  • QuinalinToken.PNG Quinalin opts to carry the chest on his back for a while. It’s tied by a rope, and he has a knife at the ready in case he needs to release it suddenly (standard action)
  • AlToken.PNG Al and KimikaToken.PNG Kimika turn everyone into clouds so that we can travel north faster. On the way, we see a small village and decide to stop in for more information

Fishtown

  • This town has been hit with a tsunami, but the people walking around look remarkably healthy.
  • KimikaToken.PNG Kimika casts Tongues on KaleesarynnToken.PNG Kaleesarynn, and KaleesarynnToken.PNG Kaleesarynn approaches an elderly man with a jade necklace who looks to be the village’s elder. With him is an old man with milky white eyes, who doesn’t seem to be able to see very well. Before KaleesarynnToken.PNG Kaleesarynn can greet the village elder, several members of the party see that the old man carries a holy symbol of Alexandria. MoseToken.PNG Mose (in Ubrekti) says, “Praise Alexandria”, holding up his own holy symbol. We then learn that the old man also speaks Ubrekti, though a very formal version of it. A short conversation with the old man and the party ensues.
  • Eventually, KaleesarynnToken.PNG Kaleesarynn begins speaking using Tongues again to the village elder and the old man to find out what happened. About a month ago, there was an explosion several miles out to the east, and then there was a tsunami that destroyed the village. The party offers to help a bit with the repairs, which we do the next day.
  • The village elder tells us about the “Sharkmen” (which are probably Sauhagin) that have been more aggressive since the explosion. He also tells us about the “mad men” in the mountains that have closed off the mountain passes to them. The mad men are giants and other creatures.
  • The original city we were headed to is the Kingdom of Po, to the north along the coast. It’s about a month away. It’s a very large city where two rivers converge. It’s very rich farmland, and very populous.
  • There is also the Kingdom of Wa, through the mountains, which is the kingdom this fishing village belongs to. The Kingdom of Wa and the Kingdom of Po are currently at peace. According to the village elder, the King of Wa is a firm, but kind man. KaleesarynnToken.PNG Kaleesarynn senses that the elder did not want to speak ill of the King, but was very cautious about what he did say. He felt though that if we cleared the passes, the king would be grateful to us and possibly help us.
  • During this conversation, AlToken.PNG Al went out to the general area of the explosion using windwalk, but found nothing. It was out in the middle of the ocean with no signs of anything amiss.

A New Companion

  • The old man’s name is SteinToken.PNG Stein and we swap stories of how we got here.
  • SteinToken.PNG Stein was rather unexpectedly teleported against his will to this land about 3 weeks ago. He suspects some political machinations. He is originally from Odessa, but it has been a very long time since he was a citizen there. He had been living in Old Alexandria when he was transported here.
  • KaleesarynnToken.PNG Kaleesarynn relates a very abbreviated version of our arrival in this strange land that don’t include Edrell’s house or Blue or the fact that Whiz Ard is evil.
  • The group spends the night in the village so that we can help the villagers repair a boat in the morning.

A Companion Lost

  • The next morning, we find that KimikaToken.PNG Kimika has been up all night crying and is extremely distraught. She tells the party that she did some scrying last night and saw that Wydmoor had been completely destroyed. She decides that she cannot return after what has happened, and that she wants to stay here in this village and do the work of Alexandria.
  • There are many tearful goodbyes from the group. KaleesarynnToken.PNG Kaleesarynn, LEToken.PNG LE, and KimikaToken.PNG Kimika all hug each other a lot, and KaleesarynnToken.PNG Kaleesarynn thanks her for taking her shopping on her first day in a new city. AlToken.PNG Al says, “See ya later, dudette!”. MoseToken.PNG Mose and QuinalinToken.PNG Quinalin also said their goodbyes.
  • KaleesarynnToken.PNG Kaleesarynn memorizes the major geographical landmarks around the village using autohypnosis - rolled a 29 and is able to get to Carefully Studied - so that we have the option of teleporting back here if we ever want to.

Hill Giant and Frost Giant “Ambush”

  • Al sees what’s up, so before the giants get their ambush off he cuts three of them off from the rest with a wall of thorns
  • Beat up 6 hill giants and 2 frost giants that tried to ambush us.
