Last Game

  • AlToken.PNG Al spies the first signs of life! An encampment of 17 ogres. The party decides to ambush them and attempt to take a few prisoner to interrogate.
  • The party does a quick round of buffs, expecting to make short work of the CR 3 giants, and then AlToken.PNG Al leads off a surprise round with an air strike.

Battle Preparation

  • Buffs cast: Bless (KimikaToken.PNG Kimika), Schism (KaleesarynnToken.PNG Kaleesarynn), Blood Claws (for  GrrrllwofrowffgrrToken.PNG Grrrllwofrowffgrr), Mage Armor (LEToken.PNG LE), Divine Favor (MoseToken.PNG Mose)
  • AlToken.PNG Al preparing Obsidian Flow, and that will start the battle - he’s flying above them as an air elemental AlToken.PNG Al started as an air elemental, but did not fly overhead.

Ogre Battle!

  • AlToken.PNG Al the air elemental moves north
  • MoseToken.PNG Mose on Way runs north
  • The ogres notice us
  • One disappears?
  • QuinalinToken.PNG Quinalin moves forward to cover while drawing his bow and lets an arrow fly... THUNK into the chest of an ogre. He looks slightly past annoyed.
  • Suddenly, with a thunderclap, five of the ogres are engulfed in a fireball and they fall over, burnt and twitching.
  • KimikaToken.PNG Kimika’s spiritual weapon smacks one of the ogres.
  • MoseToken.PNG Mose decimates one of the ogres that ran up to him, then gets smacked by a second ogre.
  • Another ogre disappears.
  • QuinalinToken.PNG Quinalin looses a bunch of arrows at the group of ogres.
  •  GrrrllwofrowffgrrToken.PNG Grrrllwofrowffgrr quickly and nimbly charges at the nearest ogre, leaping over a pile of bones.
  • Another fireball flashes onto 4 of the ogres right in front of  GrrrllwofrowffgrrToken.PNG Grrrllwofrowffgrr. All but one are heavily wounded.
  • In the end, the party defeats the ogres.

Talking with Stones

  • AlToken.PNG Al casts stonetell. The rocks tell him that in a blink of an eye everything turned to stone here, and that up in the mountains there is something concealed.
  • A couple of minutes ago something took weapons and carved out the heart of the mountain.
  • We basically get the gist that a millenia ago, something turned everything to stone. Before then, there were lots of humanoids walking around on the island.

Al’s Reconnaissance

  • AlToken.PNG Al flies around the island to find out where the ogres had beeen and discovers the boat that they had arrived in. It is too large for the party to attempt to sail, unfortunately.
  • He also sees the route that the ogres had taken inland, and it leads toward the center of the small island. It’s likely that all the loot they had was taken from there.

Blue

  • In the morning, the party wakes to see a small blue humanoid (probably looks like this) near our camp staring at us. He is a telepath like KaleesarynnToken.PNG Kaleesarynn and speaks to us telepathically.
  • He was sent here a very long time ago for committing the crime of killing his brother, but claims it was because his brother was going to kill him.
  • He wants us to help him get off the island. He says that he thinks we may actually be strong enough to get into the heart of the mountain, where he’s sure there’s a means of escape. He says that if we agree to help him, he will show us where the entrance is to the underground area at the center of the island.
  • MoseToken.PNG Mose detects a faint aura of evil on him, and is not inclined to help him. AlToken.PNG Al is not keen on helping him either, but KaleesarynnToken.PNG Kaleesarynn points out that we’ve killed plenty of people that were trying to kill us and that’s not so bad. Plus, MoseToken.PNG Mose could tell him all about Alexandria. Blue perks up at this, as he has never heard of Alexandria. He seems genuinely interested in learning more, though not for religious reasons. He seems especially interested in where she was when she disappeared for a while, but is disappointed when MoseToken.PNG Mose tells him that no one knows.
  • Blue tells the party about the creatures in the town near the center of the island that can turn you to stone. There are lizard-like creatures (basilisks) and strange bird-like creatures (cockatrices). He is too afraid to go into town himself until it’s been cleared out.
  • Blue tells us about the wizard who lived at the heart of the island and that there was a town full of humanoids. Note taker’s memory is fuzzy on what he told us about what happened when things began turning to stone
  • Blue grows impatient with our incessant queries, and we decide to go to town to clear out the basilisks. NOTE: We never actually agreed to anything.
  • AlToken.PNG Al does star analysis to see where we are
    • If you were on the mainland, you would be very far south. Sadly, the stars can only tell direction north/south, not east/west, so it is still impossible to tell how far from the mainland you are. Longitudinally, you are very far south of Petera, in what would be the deep south of the Ulan


Overdressed for the basilisk party

  • The town is mostly all rubble, but we can tell where the tower was. There are bodies of dead things that were once cockatrices and basilisks all over the place, along with ogre statues.
  • The party decides to send AlToken.PNG Al in alone as an earth elemental, since he would be immune to their stoning abilities that way. The rest of us hang back, but still well within range if he needed help. AlToken.PNG Al gets several buffs cast on him and engages the enemy. QuinalinToken.PNG Quinalin also enters battle at a distance with his bow.
  • As it turns out, they were much easier foes than we feared, and AlToken.PNG Al and QuinalinToken.PNG Quinalin make very short work out of them. The town is now safe for the moment.


Tower Entrance

  • KaleesarynnToken.PNG Kaleesarynn finds a trapdoor into the tower, which has collapsed.
  • AlToken.PNG Al tries to sink through the ground and discovers he can’t go any deeper. He runs into a lead sheet that was somehow built into the wall.
  • The party clears out the rubble on top of the trap door, which takes several hours to complete. It is now afternoon.
  • The room we enter is small, and the hallway is choked with debris. There are signs of the ogres having been here.
  • It takes several hours to clear the hallway for us to enter the next room, which has a dirty pool of water on the other side of it.
  • AlToken.PNG Al determines that the ogres went about 15' into this room before being attacked by something. They collapsed the hallway on their way out - probably to trap whatever they were running from
  • The party decides to camp for the night after a long day of rock hauling.
