Exploration of Level 2

  • QuinalinToken.PNG Quinalin begs the Ring of Protection +2 from LE.
  • The party begins searching all of the unsealed areas of the cavern
  • We find the room of the Ettin summoner, which contains 220 gold and 4650 silver. We took the gold, but left the silver due to lack of room to store it. We also find several jet black onyxes and a blood diamond.
  • We go south and find the throne room of the half-giant, as well as the naked (but for some boots) War Marshall of Wa, Liu Bang.
  • We free Liu Bang and find out from him that he believes the giant activities in Wa aren’t limited to this group. He believes there is someone even higher up in the chain of command than the half-giant king that is orchestrating giant activities across several kingdoms.
  • Liu Bang is very impressed with our ability to king the half-giant king and also the dragon that has plagued the region for some time.
  • The party begins going down the hall to the south of Room 1, and hears very rhythmic mining activities. In fact, the tempo has not changed one bit since we first entered this area, and there is absolutely no light that we can discern down the hall. We decide to hold off on exploring this area until the morning.

  • After some rest, we find and free the prisoners, urging them to stay together and not stray. If they do, we cannot guarantee their safety.
  • After we leave them there to eat and recuperate, we investigate the bouldered off area to the south.
  • It is the room where the honor guard and the half-giant king stay. There is another room with a gigantic boulder blocking it - far too big for any of us to move. KaleesarynnToken.PNG Kaleesarynn determines that the king used his psionic abilities to make himself huge in order to move the boulder. Then, once beyond the threshold, returns to his normal size.
  • When the group enters the room, AlToken.PNG Al triggers a trap and four Reapers appear and attack the party.
  • We dispatch the Reapers and loot the place.

Rescue and Rewards

  • During preparations to shuttle everyone back to the Castle of Wa, there is some discussion/light arguing with the peasants about who gets the sacks of money they found in the treasure hoard, but it’s eventually decided that they can keep it.
  • The party then spends the next two days to teleport the newly freed captives back to Wa, who then sing our praises, as is appropriate.
  • We are welcomed back and invited to stay in the Palace in Wa for as long as we like, and a great feast is thrown in our honor.
  • After the feast, Liu Bang (new War Marshall of Wa) speaks to us. Though his primary desire is to see the giant menace eradicated and not to serve Wa, he realizes we are in a better position to deal with the threat and entreats us to deal with it in his stead. The party agrees to do this. It will involve traveling far to the north in search of the awakened Godmountain.
  • We are then taken to see the Queen Regent, who opens up her vaults to us as well as the use of her craftsmen as reward for the service we provided. She is extremely displeased at AlToken.PNG Al’s absence from her presence, but with lots of diplomacying from the talky types, agrees to allow him a reward as well. She does, however, say that she will order his death should she ever see him again.
  • The party works out which rewards they will claim while in town.

Post Game Downtime

Psychic Reformation

  • KaleesarynnToken.PNG Kaleesarynn describes for the group the new ability of brain surgery that she now has and how it can help the group if they wish. (see Psychic Reformation house rules)
  • QuinalinToken.PNG Quinalin’s thoughts
  • SteinToken.PNG Stein’s inner thoughts: “Stein sits back, staring at Kaylee with those cloudy eyes that always mask his thoughts whether he wants it that way or not. He muses on the idea of really going back 1400 years to rethink some of the decisions back them. As interesting as it sounds, if only to learn more about the somewhat squishy nature that time seems to take for him, he pauses. He thinks about his memories of that time . . . seeing Alexandria in her mortal form, even the bad ones about the war and horrible creatures they faced. Rubbing his chin he decides to stay silent . .no he's not willing to risk any damage to that important piece of him to this mind mage's magic, despite how steady a companion she has proven herself. At least not yet. So he contents himself to stay silent and listen to Quinn's story, quietly grumbling about the lack of a decent ale at the campsite that better accompanies such tale-telling.”

New scrying attempts

  • Once we’re above ground again, KaleesarynnToken.PNG Kaleesarynn detects that the party is being scryed upon, but is unable to get a visual on the person doing the scrying. The only image that shows up is the city on a monster (or what she assumes to be it). Possible reasons:
    • Some sort of reverse feedback indicating a higher level of countermeasures to being detected by her.
    • Could be a chain of manifesters working together on the scrying, preventing her from seeing any one face. KaleesarynnToken.PNG Kaleesarynn believes this to be the most likely scenario and that the source is from the Godmountain. We may have attracted some attention...
    • Could be a custom made spell crossing the boundaries between magic and psionics, preventing her from being able to see the scryer as expected.
  • After 2-3 days of being scryed upon, KaleesarynnToken.PNG Kaleesarynn throws up all of her defenses, including a scrying trap. The attempts cease after the first time the trap goes off.
