Tana grew up as the youngest of the six [[!Category:Kib Absold's Family|Absold]] siblings, the last born before Lilia's untimely demise. The youngest of the Absold children, Tana only ever knew a life of relative privilege and comfort. She grew up educated by private tutors and showed an early talent for singing and dancing, and dreamed one day of studying at the Bardic colleges of Flannary's university. Bright and well educated, she learned also to be crafty and diligent, yet grew up lacking many of the broader ambitions that characterize the older Absold children.

Like all of the Absolds, Tana has the good looks characteristic of a healthy (read: wealthy) upbringing, with the features archetypical of Odessa: A solid build, olive skin, dark eyes and hair. For an Absold, she is not particularly tall (5' 7"), and her eyes are fiercely interrogative. Her voice, while able to demonstrate a fair and pleasing lilt, is more commonly blunt and loud, efficiently carrying the weight of her words with all the force of a Gilden warhammer. All of this air is bravado, belying a sensitivity that would quickly get her killed in the circles she frequents, were it detected.

She found herself on the streets and, shortly after reuniting with Levan, on the run. The two were forced to rely on busking and low grade crime to survive. They escaped Odessa and made their way across the broken nation of Alexia, searching for news of their family, with a particular interest in news of Kib, who they knew was last deployed somewhere in the region with the Odessan army.

Tana grew up the youngest of the Absolds, born a year before her mother [[Lilia Absold|Lilia's]] untimely death during labor. She, like [[Kib Absold|Kib]] and [[Lea Absold|Lea]], grew up with no memory of Lilia beyond the faintest of impressions. Due to this commonality, and the natural grouping of the ages, those three were closer together in childhood than with any of the others.

Being the last of many, and a girl besides, [[Garn Absold|Garn]] had no particular plans for Tana's life. This was probably just as well--Tana was singularly stubborn even for an Absold, and any attempts to push her into a mold would have been met with fierce resistance. She was educated as all of the Absolds, and spent her fair share of time on the road with her stonemason father, learning to talk and sell, but in contrast to Lea spent an inordinate amount of her nights freewheeling on rooftops and chumming around in dive bars. Exploring gave her a thrill, and the surest way to get Tana to go somewhere was to tell her she wasn't allowed.

As Levan quickly ascended its ranks, Tana became more uneasy with their actions, and keenly aware of the ethical shortcomings forced by the survival situation. Levan convinced Tana that with his growing power it made more sense to settle down and continue the search for their kin in a more passive fashion. She acquiesced and quickly became Levan's right hand woman, the one person he could trust in a town where no one could trust anyone. Levan's cunning and prowess tempered by Tana's cleverness and grace was, for a time, a fearsome combination, and she even found new uses for her long neglected bardic skills. Over time, however, Tana grew ever more uncomfortable with the amoral brutality that seemed to run parallel with his ascent through the Bandit Kingdom's underworld. Her ambivalence came to a head after a particularly unpleasant event after which Tana proclaimed that she was going East to go search for their brother, Kib, who recent reports indicated had been active in and around [[Port Turin]], [[Gildenhome]].

While she had no interest in craftsmanship, new places and people excited her, and Garn was only too happy to encourage her interest in business. She used the opportunities to fulfill her curiosity, and even managed to acquire a Ring of Chameleon Power to aid her in this.

Tana was just returning from such a trip when Garn was arrested and tried for treason. She managed to sneak out shortly after and, hearing news that Kib had been unceremoniously dumped from his post with the Odessan military at the border between Western Celestia and the Bandit Kingdom, decided to follow him. A few months and a harrowing journey later, she found herself in Kred, surrounded by news of its recent troubles and Kib's involvement therein, and it is there that she finally caught up with her brother, with whom she now travels.
